Since I'm a Jerry Lewis fan,  I like The Delicate Delinquent.   Of course Jerry was no teen or even college kid when he made the film (he was 31),  but that really doesn't matter since Jerry has the energy to come off as just turned 20 delinquent.     The film has a lot of charm and there is really good chemistry between Jerry and McGavin.

But this is a Jerry being Jerry,  so anyone expecting something else should stay away.

You know, yeah, I guess I am a Jerry Lewis fan...though I probably wouldn't stand on a street corner and shout this to the world.

I think Jerry Lewis is one of those performers that people tend to love or hate.   I wouldn't have pegged either one of you as Jerry Lewis fans (based on my limited online impressions).  I liked the Martin & Lewis movies as a kid but can't say that I was a fan of any of his solo movies.  His humor was just too broad, and his persona always felt a little slimy, to me.  He was well-cast as Jerry Langford in The King of Comedy.

I'll have to look for your review of THE DELICATE DELINQUENT tomorrow, TB.  Maybe I'll give that one a try.

Noel Coward wrote an amusing poem about Unity, whose father, the 2nd Baron Redesdale, was a notorious racist and anti-Semite. Here's Coward's poem:

"Note on Our New National Heroine"

Unity, Unity -- daughter of sorrow,

Creature of tragedy, child of distress,

Read her sad tale in the Mirror tomorrow,

Learn of her life in the Daily Express,

Think how she publicly postured and pandered,

Screeching her views on the Nazi regime,

Weep with her now in the News and the Standard,

Everything's over, the end of the dream.

Sigh for this amateur social Egeria,

Think how she suffered and suffered in vain,

Caught in the toils of neurotic hysteria,

Ne'er to take tea with her Fuhrer again.

No more photography -- no more publicity,

No more defiance and devil may care,

Back to old England and bleak domesticity,

Nothing but decency, truth and despair.

No concentration camps -- nothing exciting here,

    Nothing sadistic. No national slaves.

Only the freedom for which we are fighting here,

Only Brittania still ruling the waves.

Unity -- Unity -- Daughter of sorrow,

Sad, disillusioned and pampered and rich

How can she hope for a happy tomorrow?

What is there left for this tiresome b_itch?

Thank you for posting that delicious poem by Noel Coward.  They sound like a dreadful family.  So, of course I looked on line to see if our local library has any books on them.  They have The Six:  Lives of the Mitford Sisters which I'll give a try.
