[Please id an Italian film that was recently shown .]

It was shown on one Sunday evening after 1am, so technically Monday morning. It was a black and white Italian film set in Italy about a mother moving with her son to escape her life as a prostitute. Boy dies at the end. Another helpful tip is that it was shown immediately after a silent film called "Sunrise". I have forgotten the name and tried "google", but alas I was unsuccessful.
