  1. And neither did Liza's dramatic rendering of "But the World Goes Round" from that same film .... and it always impressed me even MORE than "NY, NY." Kander & Ebb were so underrated and snubbed. "Cabaret" and other great numbers from that movie may have already been handled on Broadway, but "Maybe This Time' was added to the movie version, and it immediately topped my list of their (and Liza's) best numbers ....... but no nomination ....... shamefully.
  2. I would have even loved seeing one episode from Robert Montgomery in the 50's if it was a version of "Appointment in Samarra" .... but that link never lead to a video. For so many years I've considered "Samarra" the greatest of O'Hara's novels, and have never understood why one of the insightful actors blessing the screen today would not have realized how easily it could lead to an Oscar nomination for him. Maybe if we took out an ad in VARIETY asking for volunteers to enhance their OWN careers!
  3. I'll never forget the beuutiful Tyrone Power and Kin Novak waling through Central Park in the rain...with "Manhattan" playing in the background.
