Wow, I'm sorry. Got so caught up with my programming challenge voting week that I forgot all about this! Next one: *No, not THAT guy!*

6) Bette Davis' famous dress from the party scene was not supposed to be off the shoulder. Designer Edith Head made it to be a square neck, but accidentally made the shoulder part of the sleeves too big. When Bette Davis put on the dress the sleeves fell off her shoulders, but Bette liked it that way, so the mistake stuck.

Wow, what is going on with that post about the tallies? They sure didn't preview that way. Oh, technology. Well, it's too hard to recompile it all, but I remember that Kingrat had 4 votes, then sunny and countess tied at 3 votes, then I think everyone else just got 1 vote. Someone might have gotten 2 votes but I forget. Sorry about that. But Congrats to the King of the Rats!

Alrighty, then! Sorry for the delay of an entire day-- had some typical Mac trouble and couldn't open Safari all day. Alas. But anyway, here's the final tally: *kingrat - 4* sunny75 - 3 countessdelave - 3 skimpole - 1 fedya - 1 JamesinArlington - 1 So the winner is *KINGRAT*!! Congrats!! It's been a real pleasure running this informal competition and seeing what everyone did with my challenge. But it will be more fun to see what I can do with KINGRAT's challenge next time. Yay! *All About The Lady Eve* Margo Channing is conned for her leading role by her understudy Eve Harrington. Eve becomes friends with Margo. She therefore feels guilty about conning her and gives up on her plans to con Margo into giving her a lead. But before she can say anything, Margo discovers that Eve is really after and decides not to cast her as her as a lead or be her friend. Eve feels betrayed by Margo's lack of trust and comes back to auditions in disguise as a famous Hollywood movie star instead. Margo is completely taken in, so Eve acts like a total jerk, thus making Margo glad to see the real Eve Harrington back in the show. Eve and Margo become best friends and star in the show together for a long time. ========================================== {font:arial, helvetica, sans-serif}PS Go vote for your favorite Fan-Written Schedule! http://forums.tcm.com/thread.jspa?threadID=162338&tstart=15{font}

4) George Cukor was very briefly the director, his major contribution being that he "unHollywoodized" Dorothy's hair and makeup so she would look less glamorous and more like a Kansas farm girl. In other words, George Cukor is responsible for her famous "look".

How about Madeline Kahn for SOTM?

I do agree. That's exactly why I qualified my statement with "IF she starred in enough films" -- not sure about that either. -

Find the Movie Star in Classic TV
LonesomePolecat replied to allaboutlana's topic in Games and Trivia
Are you trying to aim us towards Pat Finley? She played a divorcee in that episode who always wanted to do something "Crazy and cooky", then later she came back in one of my favorite episodes as Twinks, the camp friend who imposes on Mary to be her maid of honor in the world's most hideous bridesmaid dress. Then she went on to play Bob Newhart's sister in his 70s sitcom. Is that who you want us to guess? Incredible Effect Acheived in "The Women" (1939)
LonesomePolecat replied to Ascotrudgeracer's topic in General Discussions
It's true-- like Rebecca does in REBECCA, the men are all over THE WOMEN without actually showing up. Even the animals are all female. And having made this decision, it doesn't limit the story telling at all (like ROPE's effect of doing it all in one shot kind of limits the story telling sometimes)-- they didn't gimmick themselves into a corner as it were. THE WOMEN is just a great film with a terrific cast. PS Go vote for your favorite Fan-Written Schedule! http://forums.tcm.com/thread.jspa?threadID=162338&tstart=15
