  2. "Come ye from the hills, come ye from the mills..." Keep your eyes open for the next TCM Programming Challenge. The challenge will begin OCTOBER 1ST. Official Rules and the Official Challenge will come out a few days before that. I hope EVERYONE participates!
  3. Whitaker, Walt - Carl Reiner in THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING x2
  4. Eve Arden was in ANATOMY OF A MURDER with Lee Remick Lee Remick was in THE LONG HOT SUMMER with Paul Newman next: Buster Keaton
  5. Very excited about FLIGHT-- some gorgeous footage of airplanes in that. Also excited tonight to see INVITATION TO THE DANCE. Been a long time.
  6. (I hope this counts, if plans for a remake count): 7) Carol Burnett did a parody of this film on her famous variety show. In the parody, "Double Calamity," Carol plays the blonde siren with a very noisy anklet, and Steve Lawrence also wears an anklet as Walter Leff. "Leff?" "Right."
  7. I can't help thinking of What a Way to Go in which Gene Kelly's character puts in his will that after his death his museum must show his movies 24 hours a day. Sounds cheesy, but I really must leave behind It's a Wonderful Life because, other than being a great movie, it has a good message for the future generations-- appreciate life as it comes, for what it is, even if it's not what you thought you wanted. Basically, happiness isn't a place, it's a way to travel. But I'm sure I could think of another more obscure film with a similar message if I had to.
  8. *I am thinking of wearing Bruno's dressing gown, complete with the comets and planets pattern, for Hallowe'en. Whether people associate it with Monty Woolley as the obnoxious snooty unwanted gentleman who refused to leave, or the demented but smooth-voiced Robert Walker as crazy Bruno, it would be equally scarey (if my fellow Hallowe'eners were familiar with those films, of course.)* *I WISH I had that awesome bathrobe of his. But then you'd need his two-toned shoes, the tie with the "Bruno" tie clip, and the lighter as well.* I like to find/make one awesome item and build a costume around that. I just made myself a black and white striped tailcoat, which I will be wearing for Halloween, once I figure out exactly what I can make that into. I want to be from a classic film, but I'll figure it out later. Edited by: LonesomePolecat on Sep 16, 2011 8:52 PM
  9. Igor - Marty Feldman in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN
  10. Not sure if this counts, but I think *ANCHORS AWEIGH i*s a pretty "Hooray for Hollywood" type of movie, or at least "Hooray for LA".
  11. Thanks, lzcutter, for reminding me about GALAXY QUEST--- I adore that movie!
  12. Thanks for the clarification, lzcutter--you explain things better than me. I hope everyone participates! But before you think of every movie you've never seen on TCM, there is a limit to your premieres. And thanks, TCM, for keeping us troll free.
  13. Unger, Felix - Jack Lemmon in THE ODD COUPLE
  14. It started with warning because..... this is a warning and not the actual challenge..... that and the word "warning" has a way of grabbing attention.
  15. Start thinking of ideas because the next TCM Programming Challenge is coming up in less than a month. For you newcomers, this is a little contest hosted by us in which everyone must create a week of programming for TCM. Although this isn't a TCM contest, just a friendly competition between all the posters here, the TCM programmers still read these schedules. It's the best way to request a movie or SOTM. Plus it's fun. All posters are welcome to participate-- oldies, newbies, and everyone in between! More details about the competition and my particular challenges coming soon.......... (P.S. I think we're on #20, but I'm unsure-- could someone verify that?)
  16. Guess Who's Coming to Gunga Dinner? It is to laugh! Awesome!
  17. I'm sure the people on this forum could create such a list.
  18. Thanks for pointing that website out. It's pretty dang awesome. I have to say how much Monty Clift's makes me laugh. It's as funny as an ad for the Bates Motel. I love Ronald Coleman in front of the Shangri-La resort. It Happened One Night is my favorite movie, so I love that Claudette's bus stopped at the JERICHO Motor Court. I love them all, though I wish Jean Gabin was advertising the drug joint from La Desordre et La Nuit. Seriously, though, can I buy the pack of these? WANT!!
