(I hope this counts, if plans for a remake count):
7) Carol Burnett did a parody of this film on her famous variety show. In the parody, "Double Calamity," Carol plays the blonde siren with a very noisy anklet, and Steve Lawrence also wears an anklet as Walter Leff. "Leff?" "Right."

I can't help thinking of What a Way to Go in which Gene Kelly's character puts in his will that after his death his museum must show his movies 24 hours a day.
Sounds cheesy, but I really must leave behind It's a Wonderful Life because, other than being a great movie, it has a good message for the future generations-- appreciate life as it comes, for what it is, even if it's not what you thought you wanted. Basically, happiness isn't a place, it's a way to travel. But I'm sure I could think of another more obscure film with a similar message if I had to.

*I am thinking of wearing Bruno's dressing gown, complete with the comets and planets pattern, for Hallowe'en. Whether people associate it with Monty Woolley as the obnoxious snooty unwanted gentleman who refused to leave, or the demented but smooth-voiced Robert Walker as crazy Bruno, it would be equally scarey (if my fellow Hallowe'eners were familiar with those films, of course.)*
*I WISH I had that awesome bathrobe of his. But then you'd need his two-toned shoes, the tie with the "Bruno" tie clip, and the lighter as well.*
I like to find/make one awesome item and build a costume around that. I just made myself a black and white striped tailcoat, which I will be wearing for Halloween, once I figure out exactly what I can make that into. I want to be from a classic film, but I'll figure it out later.

Speaking of Ava Gardner I love that green bustle dress she wears in *Show Boat *as she sings "Can't Help Lovin" Dat Man"-- she looks so lovely in green, and it's one of my favorite eras. In that film I also love Marge Champion's candy cane stripe showgirl outfit as she sings "I Might Fall Back on You".

Not sure if this counts, but I think *ANCHORS AWEIGH i*s a pretty "Hooray for Hollywood" type of movie, or at least "Hooray for LA".

Thanks, lzcutter, for reminding me about GALAXY QUEST--- I adore that movie!

I'm a mega Bob Fosse fan, so I completely agree. I'm also sad Jerome Robbins' choreography didn't make it to Hollywood as often as it should have.
