  1. Well the pieces of memorabilia I'd want are much bigger than pieces: The Smith's house (all of it) in MEET ME IN ST LOUIS The treehouse in SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON Any classic "pirate" ship from any of those old movies like Mutiny on the Bounty Prof Fate's car in THE GREAT RACE The train from THE HARVEY GIRLS But if they have to be small pieces of memorabilia then I'd have to think about it Edited by: LonesomePolecat on Jul 17, 2011 7:04 PM
  2. Mr Roberts does have one of the great endings ever. I also love two other bittersweet endings: *Remember the Night* and *Roman Holiday*. Brilliant endings.
  3. This has come up a lot throughout the years. Let's discuss this right here, right now-- how important is historical accuracy in a movie?
  4. *Bedknobs and Broomsticks* is one of my favorite movies anyway and it my fav Disney Live Action film (yes, for me it beats *Mary Poppins* though that baffles most people). I've been scheduling a few of these live action movies into all of my Programming Challenge schedules so they'll show them. I am especially partial to *The Happiest Millionair*e** which people haven't seemed to have heard of anymore. Mostly I've always wanted to see *the One and Only ... Family Band* and *Summer Magic --I've never seen them but know the songs. And I'd love to see Darby O'Gill on St Patty's Day.* Edited by: LonesomePolecat on Jul 10, 2011 8:11 PM
  5. I do have a soft spot for Leslie Howard because he died so young in WWII, even if I thought he was a terrible actor (which I don't)
  6. *Gene Kelly* in FOR ME AND MY GAL -- to get the lead in a Busby Berkely movie opposite Judy Garland is quite a start. This role is different from his usual persona, but it's no surprise it's a lot like the part he played on Broadway in Pal Joey.
  7. :0 I am flabbergasted. I never actually expect to win these things. In fact I hoped I wouldn't so I could keep writing schedules. How on earth did I win with THAT schedule (I prefered my last one, with the Carol Burnett goodness in it), over everyone else's schedules?! Everyone else did such cracking great schedules that I can't imagine why you guys voted for mine. *But thank you so much to those five wonderful people who voted for me! "You like me! You really like me!"* Well moderating sounds like a lot of fun. I will have to think of something good for the challenge, tee hee. You guys will have to help me figure out when to do the next one. (After labor day perhaps?) I only hope I can do it as well as KINGRAT, who deserves applause from all of us. (Just so you know, I already have all these ideas for my next schedule, so I may have to write a schedule anyway and not enter it.)
  8. Queen Victoria - Judi Dench in MRS BROWN
  9. SueSue you are too kind! I never knew the love for Danny Kaye was so strong. I hope TCM takes the hint.
  10. Nickleby, Ralph - Cedric Hardwick in NICHOLAS NICKLEBY
  11. I have been anxious for a Falk tribute as well. Pretty please, TCM? ?:|
  12. Franklin, Benjamin - Howard da Silva in 1776
  13. Not only is she great anyway, but the reason I love her so much in Rear Window is that she is so like the nurses I grew up around, the matter-of-fact way they talk about life and death and blood and such. She is so amazing. To me she is part of what makes this one of Hitch's best films.
  14. Favorite 4th of July movie ever. Was raised watching it every 4th. So glad to watch the director's cut in widescreen--makes a much better movie.
  15. Clouseau, Inspector - Peter Sellers in THE PINK PANTHER
  16. name the movie and speaker: "This is a revolution, dammit-- we're going to have to offend SOMEbody!"
  17. Kingrat, Just too curious. Are there enough votes to tell us how many people have?
  18. SHALL WE DANCE (the Astaire/Rogers one) next: saddle
  19. TOTALLY AGREE!!! This is my all time favorite Hitchcock film and mostly that is because of Robert Walker's amazing performance. AMAZING!!!! "Criss cross!"
