  1. What I'd love to see are some of the classic film parodies we saw on TV shows like the Muppet Show (or Sesame Street's "Monsterpiece Theater"), but mostly *the Carol Burnett Show*. Remember her great parody of Babes in Arms called "Babes in Barns"? SO FUNNY, and just the kind of thing TCM fans would love. In fact we're pretty much the only ones who do get those jokes anymore.

  2. Since no one else has mentioned my favorite character actors, these are the ones that I love most that I want to see featured:

    Ward Bond

    Mildred Natwick

    Spring Byington (if she counts)

    Buddy Ebsen (if he counts)

    but mostly Thelma Ritter

  3. Huge fan of the books, irritated in general by the movies, since they missed the boat on so many things, but I do love the art direction and such, and of course I think the Adult Cast saves the movies in general. Definitely this last film was completely stolen by Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman, who were both on maybe 5 minutes. The last one is probably the best of the bunch, despite some annoying changes (i.e. the fact that you can't just snap the ruddy Elder Wand in half), but I'm not sure.

I'm glad the movies are over now so we can hopefully get a really well adapted & acted miniseries (each book in 3 or 4 parts would be nice), which is good, true to the books but not annoying like movie #2, and not so commercial and pandering to the 11 year olds.

  4.

Wow, y'all really got off topic! I'll have to digress with you though since I'm interested...

I guess Loretta Young is one of those that you have to see in the right film a.k.a. context to like/appreciate her. I definitely only appreciate her acting because of *Platinum Blonde* and her very believable performance and humor. Or do I just love the movie to death? :)

    ANYWAY...

To get back to the main question, I love Cary Grant and James Stewart in everything they're in, so probably those days. But I think I'm most excited about a star that is never given much attention: HOWARD KEEL (Aug 30th). I could listen to him sing all day, so I'm very excited to be able to. :)

  5. Here's a toughie-- in *SABRINA*, what song is playing while Sabrina waits in the tennis court for David, as Linus (Bogie) walks in with champagne, just before "Isn't it Romantic" comes on? Hint: it's from an old classic musical, but not from Paramount.

  6. "With the drinking, with the cha cha, with the no napkins!"

What a great movie. One of Billy Wilder's best. Jack Lemmon rocks and Fred MacMurray finally gets to play a different kind of character. Of all the movies that come in and out of my top 5 favorite films, The Apartment and It Happened One Night are the only ones that stay there.

  7. Well the pieces of memorabilia I'd want are much bigger than pieces:

The Smith's house (all of it) in MEET ME IN ST LOUIS

The treehouse in SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON

Any classic "pirate" ship from any of those old movies like Mutiny on the Bounty

Prof Fate's car in THE GREAT RACE

The train from THE HARVEY GIRLS

But if they have to be small pieces of memorabilia then I'd have to think about it :D

  8. *Bedknobs and Broomsticks* is one of my favorite movies anyway and it my fav Disney Live Action film (yes, for me it beats *Mary Poppins* though that baffles most people).

I've been scheduling a few of these live action movies into all of my Programming Challenge schedules so they'll show them. I am especially partial to *The Happiest Millionair*e** which people haven't seemed to have heard of anymore. Mostly I've always wanted to see *the One and Only ... Family Band* and *Summer Magic --I've never seen them but know the songs. And I'd love to see Darby O'Gill on St Patty's Day.*

  9. *Gene Kelly* in FOR ME AND MY GAL -- to get the lead in a Busby Berkely movie opposite Judy Garland is quite a start. This role is different from his usual persona, but it's no surprise it's a lot like the part he played on Broadway in Pal Joey.

  10. :0

I am flabbergasted. I never actually expect to win these things. In fact I hoped I wouldn't so I could keep writing schedules. How on earth did I win with THAT schedule (I prefered my last one, with the Carol Burnett goodness in it), over everyone else's schedules?! Everyone else did such cracking great schedules that I can't imagine why you guys voted for mine.

*But thank you so much to those five wonderful people who voted for me! "You like me! You really like me!"*

Well moderating sounds like a lot of fun. I will have to think of something good for the challenge, tee hee. You guys will have to help me figure out when to do the next one. (After labor day perhaps?) I only hope I can do it as well as KINGRAT, who deserves applause from all of us.

(Just so you know, I already have all these ideas for my next schedule, so I may have to write a schedule anyway and not enter it.) :D
