I just finished watching Follow the Fleet on DVR, from t'other day, and I adore it as well. The subplot can shut up, but Fred and Ginger are amazing.

no jerry lewis on his birthday?
LonesomePolecat replied to Jennifer0630's topic in General Discussions
That is a shame. I love Jerry Lewis, I must say, so I'm surprised myself. And "Maybe they are being shown on TCM France" made me laugh, Scottman. Thanks. -
Wish there could have been a whole movie with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly dancing together, rather than just that one segment. Some awesome buddy musical with lots of duets. Another film I would like to have seen would be Lucile Ball and Carol Burnett. Imagine the comedy. Oh the laughter. There are a bunch of people who only made one movie together but who did such a great job that I wish they had done more films. The first example I can think of is Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. They were so great together in White Christmas. Tis a pity they did not get to make more films together. On that film, Bing and Rosemary Clooney were a good pair. Too bad they didn't make more films either.

Have you ever walked out of a movie?
LonesomePolecat replied to Don'tCallMeSugar's topic in General Discussions
No, because I'm incredibly careful about what I go see in a movie theater. But there are many movies I've turned off half-way through. -
Did anyone see "A Cantebury Tale"?
LonesomePolecat replied to FredCDobbs's topic in General Discussions
I caught this on TCM a while back and have been waiting for it again. Great movie. Especially crazy to see how much the whole city was bombed just yards away from the miraculously untouched cathedral. Amazing how close we came to losing that awesome cathedral forever. How I love that place. -
Only 26 year old that loves TCM?

The answer is no. I'm the same age and I'm a mega huge fan. But I do feel like I'm the only one. Yay! I'm not! -

I'm so glad Hedy Lamarr wasn't Laura. Ick. -
Mazeltov, Kingrat! You completely deserve it! But awesome job to all my fellow nominees. I hope more people will participate next time. It's really not as hard as it looks. In fact it's lots of fun. The problem is you can't stop coming up with ideas for themes. You watch a movie and think of how you can link it to other movies. It's addicting. But I can quit anytime I want to--I just don't want to.

Does ANYONE Refuse an Acting Job Anymore?
LonesomePolecat replied to Ascotrudgeracer's topic in General Discussions
My dad got a scholarship to Cornell but did not go because he refused to do "Streamers." (He did not want to appear nude on stage). But that was some time ago. I think these days people refuse jobs because they don't like the director or don't think the job will further their career. Or the money. It's always the money. ======ONE DAY MORE ======== The TCM Programming Challenge needs your vote! Yes, I am a huge MST3K fan. I am ashamed to say that the MST3K version of Hamlet is the one I know best and have seen the most. I publicly apologize to Olivier, Zeffirelli, Brannagh, etc. In view of this, here's another Vole: STAR WARS EPISODE CVI: THE REVENGE OF HAMLET Hamlet Skymoaner is after Darth Claudius because he killed his father, only to hear Darth Claudius say those immortal words, "No, Hamlet, I am your father." Then Hamlet finds out his aunt is really his..... MOTHER?!!!! Darth Claudius sends RosenD2 and C-GuildPO along with Hamlet to get Hamlet killed on Hoth. But Hamlet kills Darth Claudius in the end anyway. In gender reversal, Hamlet has and destroys a relationship with Hanphelia Solo, which angers Hanphelia's sister Leiartes. The accidental murder of Hanphelia and Leiartes' father, Chewbaccius, sends Hanphelia into insanity and Leiartes on a murderous TIE fighter battle with Hamlet. Hamlet is finally annihilated when he accidentally blows up the Elsinor Death Star while still being on it.
