  1. I just saw "What's Up Tiger Lily" again, which is full of hysterical quotes. I'm going to mess these up but I love these quotes:

"I'm not sure who arranged my escape. My only guess is the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but they have no motive."

"That's right, there are no bullets left in my gun. But if all the little children in the audience who believe in Fairies will clap their hands, my gun will be filled with bullets."

"It is written that whoever makes the best Egg Salad shall rule the world. Don't ask me why egg salad-- I have enough problems"

(sorry for butchering them, but the joke is still there)

  2. Here's a couple "West Side Story" questions:

    1. Only ONE of the "main characters" does all their own singing. Who is it? (i.e. not counting the supporting Jet and Shark girls or guys, but the main and secondary leads)

    2. To take one of the answers, who dubs the singing for Russ Tamblyn?

  3. There's another POW film I really enjoy, but it's really recent so you won't see it on TCM: Rescue Dawn --it's a Vietnam War POW film, so it shows how there was no food even for the captors, and how they're in the middle of the jungle so escape is even harder. Plus it shows how great Steve Zahn is.

I'm surprised no one mentioned THe Bridge on the River Kwai --another great POW film, oddly enough starring the star of Stalag 17 and one of the British stars of The Great Escape.

  4. NOWHERE can I find the ruddy answer to this question, so I thought I'd turn to my amazing TCM Forum Members.

Someone who owns it or has rented it please tell me: Does the DVD of The King's Speech include the PG-13 version or not? As a teacher in Conservative Land, the R rated version would be a useless investment, so I really need to know.

    Thanks!

(meanwhile, feel free to discuss the film)

  5. I was so glad to see "Star" on TCM-- I really liked it. Some cracking great numbers. Julie rocks, as we already know, but it was also interesting to learn about Gertrude Lawrence, who to me was the star of The King and I. I never knew she was such a big star.
