I'm so glad Hedy Lamarr wasn't Laura. Ick.

Mazeltov, Kingrat! You completely deserve it! But awesome job to all my fellow nominees.
I hope more people will participate next time. It's really not as hard as it looks. In fact it's lots of fun. The problem is you can't stop coming up with ideas for themes. You watch a movie and think of how you can link it to other movies. It's addicting. But I can quit anytime I want to--I just don't want to.

I've been having such a bad weekend at work, there's nothing like coming home to read all these kind remarks and see that I have at least 3 votes!!

And I agree, countess, this was more exciting that the Oscars.

Back on topic here's a quote, one of my favorites:
KERMIT: We need a place to stay for the night. Actually a cheap place.
MAN: How cheap?
FOZZIE: Free.
MAN: Well, that narrows the field a big (reading). Let's see. "Places to park your carcasses: bus terminals, riverbanks, the Happiness Hotel--"
KERMIT: Happiness Hotel? That sounds great!
GONZO: What's wrong with bus terminals?

And, on topic, I ADORE "You Can't Take It With You." It's one of my all time favorites and makes me happy. That, and it sucks me in every time. Love it. But I completely understand the argument for Robin Hood. That's an incredible film. The score alone makes it one of the best movies ever made.

My dad got a scholarship to Cornell but did not go because he refused to do "Streamers." (He did not want to appear nude on stage). But that was some time ago. I think these days people refuse jobs because they don't like the director or don't think the job will further their career. Or the money. It's always the money.

Yes, I am a huge MST3K fan. I am ashamed to say that the MST3K version of Hamlet is the one I know best and have seen the most. I publicly apologize to Olivier, Zeffirelli, Brannagh, etc.
In view of this, here's another Vole:
STAR WARS EPISODE CVI: THE REVENGE OF HAMLET
Hamlet Skymoaner is after Darth Claudius because he killed his father, only to hear Darth Claudius say those immortal words, "No, Hamlet, I am your father." Then Hamlet finds out his aunt is really his..... MOTHER?!!!! Darth Claudius sends RosenD2 and C-GuildPO along with Hamlet to get Hamlet killed on Hoth. But Hamlet kills Darth Claudius in the end anyway. In gender reversal, Hamlet has and destroys a relationship with Hanphelia Solo, which angers Hanphelia's sister Leiartes. The accidental murder of Hanphelia and Leiartes' father, Chewbaccius, sends Hanphelia into insanity and Leiartes on a murderous TIE fighter battle with Hamlet. Hamlet is finally annihilated when he accidentally blows up the Elsinor Death Star while still being on it.

Thanks for your vote, gagman! I too want to see the silent Ten Commandments on TCM.

Keighly, WIlliam - Director of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)

"Pinky Shears" made me think of this MST3K sketch (just after the opening theme song)

Heaven Can Wait

I love Seven Chances too, but it didn't fit my theme. That's how the game works.

I'll be submitting my vote privately, and I hope everyone else will be too!

This is going to be tough. All good ones. I'll have to vote later.
Let me say, in my best typed-out Southern accent, "Ah thank we're all winners".

Well I don't know if you all will think he's great, but I do.
Dub Taylor was a football player who was hired for You Can't Take It With You because Capra liked him (plus he could play the xylophone). After that he went on to be in over 200 films and TV shows, and is most known for being in westerns like Support Your Local Gunfighter. But what a great beginning.

In honor of our new Best Picture Winner
The King's New Speech
Set in modern times. The vain King wants an amazing speech, so some swindlers pretend to write him one (giving him only a blank piece of paper), saying fools can't read it. The King goes along with it, not wanting to appear a fool. On the day of the speech, since he can't "read" it, he scans the invisible paper and puts it up online. But most people online don't care about being smart, so they all get mad about it and overthrow the government instead.

The answer is no. I'm the same age and I'm a mega huge fan. But I do feel like I'm the only one. Yay! I'm not!
