  1. I think we've all thought about this a little. Actually, I think we've all dreamed "Let ME do it!!!!"

Here's my vote (but it's hard to narrow it down to 5), all libraries aside

-A film that has great personal meaning to you - *Fiddler on the Roof* (personal for many reasons--too many for this brief exercise)

-A film that you think deserves a wider audience (either because it's obscure or not commercially available) - *Remember the Night* (1940) for always being overshadowed by other Christmas movies

-A film that is pure escapist entertainment, you just love it no matter how many times you've seen it - *Twelve Angry Men* because I cannot ever get sick of it. Every time I watch it I get sucked in.

-A film that features your favorite artist in a standout role - *West Side Story* (It's the best of many of my fav artists: Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Robert Wise, Jerome Robbins, Ernest Lehman, not to mention the great art direction, costumes, cinematography, etc. Oh and the acting is pretty good.)

-A film that represents your favorite director's best work - *The Apartment* (Billy Wilder is my favorite)

I wouldn't have chosen those without those particular constraints. Interesting exercise. Not sure what I would pick without them though. But I would have had more funny things, definitely. :)

  2. Nice, Ham, but you forgot the Twilight films! What utter rubbish.

I am a mega MST3K (Mystery Science Theater 3000) fan, so I could name a lot of awful movies, but here are some of the worst that I've seen thanks to that series:

    Manos Hands of Fate

    The Touch of Satan

    Hobgoblins

    Werewolf

    Laserblast

    Space Mutiny

    The Pumaman

  3. I still remember that amazing month they showed Ghilbli films. That was incredible! I was introduced to so many of his films that I had never seen before. Cannot beat the incredibleness of Ghibli animation these days, esp. their amazing backgrounds. (I miss hand animation!) It was especially cool to have John Lasseter introduce them, as he is such a great fan and a great speaker.

  4. These are animated so incredibly well:

    IN NO ORDER AT ALL:

    Pinocchio

    Fantasia

    Sleeping Beauty

    Jungle Book

    Lady and the Tramp

    Bambi

    Sword in the Stone

Winnie the Pooh (especially The Honey Tree and The Blustery Day)

Icabod Crane (nothing against Mr Toad, but Icabod takes the cake)

    Peter Pan

.....and I'm sure I forgot one I adore!

  5. My Mother's Castle (LA CHATEAU DE MA MERE)

Hadn't seen this in a very long time, having only owned the first movie, La Gloire de Mon Pere (My Father's Glory). This one is just as good as the first one. What great filmmaking and story telling. What fascinating and human characters. The hilarity of the situations draw you closer to these characters, making the ending very poignant. (I shan't spoil the film). And how funny it is that Les Colines (The Hills) he is so in love with look exactly like my local mountains. This is a fantastic movie. And I'm not just saying that. Though I am biased towards the early 1900s and foreign films.

  6. There are lots of episodes of ALfred Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone that would make good movies. Of the former, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is very interesting, and so is one called The Jaywalker, I think, with John Fiedler. As for the Twilight Zone, my brother made a student film a couple years ago based on an episode in which a guy gets a watch that stops time, but at the end it breaks and it stops time "forever." The episode ended there so he imagined what would come later and what would work if time stopped, i.e. water flowing and such.
