My favorite scene is in Miracle on 34th Street. We see William Frawley with a cigar in his mouth throughout the entire previous scene. Then he walks into court. The cop at the door points to the cigar as if to say "No smoking". WIlliam Frawley takes the cigar out of his mouth and pants the end as if to say "it's not lit." I find that exchange hilarious.
Plus any scene with Groucho Marx is great.

That is a toughie, since there were a lot of geniuses like Cary Grant, Myrna Loy, Joseph Cotten, and, heck, Thelma Ritter who never won. But here's a bunch of performances that should have been recognized:
Cary Grant in the PHILADELPHIA STORY (an incredible nuanced performance but not flashy enough for those morons)
Myrna Loy in THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES
Joseph Cotten in CITIZEN KANE or SHADOW OF A DOUBT
James Stewart in VERTIGO
Ward Bond in THE LONG VOYAGE HOME
Alec Guinness in KIND HEARTS AND CORONETS
Jack Lemmon in THE GREAT RACE

I was so excited when I got my January Now Playing guide and read that MISSING was being shown this month because I haven't seen it in years. It is such an amazing film. Jack Lemmon is particularly good in it. Disturbing in some ways, but not so disturbing as to turn you off to the film, as many modern filmmakers like to do. Just enough to disturb you into realizing that all isn't right with the world and there's still changes we need to make.

It's a miniseries, but I am greatly enjoying "Downtown Abbey" which just began on my local PBS station.

Here's a great screenwriting team:
1. Bob Hope quote: "I don't gamble. I'll lay you 8 to 5 I never made a ___ in my life" a drink with jam and bread the ___ before the storm + Bible story Daniel in the Lion's ____
and the famous partner:
2. Harpo Marx's REAL name, before it was changed + Giuseppe Verdi's last name in English

Well isn't Pixar's A BUG'S LIFE basically a remake of THE THREE AMIGOS, which is a comedic retelling of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, which we all know is a remake of THE SEVEN SAMURAI?

and, fxyreyman, 1960 has one of my absolute favorites, The Apartment. A great year in cinema.

Disney's Peter Pan is of course a remake of a silent version, but most people think of it as the original version of the book. Then again the book isn't even the original--it was a play first! But either way it's a great story that bears repeating.

Wow, '41 and '42 were both great years!

In my experience no one wears their shoes in the house, unless of course they're in someone else's house. But maybe that's a California thing?
But then in movies or TV no one turns the light out when they leave the house.

casablancalover, you make me laugh. I wish I thought of Love Me Tender Than Springtime. Hilarious!
I forgot to say that at the end of The King and Me, since it is an Elvis movie, she succumbs to his charms, does everything he wants, and they get married.

Wow, I got one right! (it was only because of the great clues)
I have two questions in mind so I'll ask both:
One man introduced, among other songs, two incredibly classic Disney tunes and one incredibly classic MGM song, all before the US entered WWII. Name the guy and the three songs.
Bonus question: which version of A Christmas Carol has the same actor playing both Tiny Tim AND The Ghost of Christmas Present?
