*The King and Me*

Anna Leonowens moves to Graceland attempts to teach the children of the King of Rock and Roll while they sing rock versions of R&H's songs:
"Getting To Know Your Beat"
"We Twist in a Shadow"
"Shall We Pony?"
And R&H versions of Elvis's songs:
"Walk Like an Angel, Whoever You Are"
"I Have Dreamed of Your Blue Suede Shoes"
"Something Wonderful in the County Jail"

I loved the marathon. I love Twilight Zone anyway. I saw a few episodes I'd never seen before. Why can't they make shows like that anymore, with great writing, interesting stories, non expensively?

Since I'm in Marx Brothers land right now (watching Night in Casablanca), here are some favorite Marx Brothers Quotes:
G: Say you remind me of a fella I once met by the name of Emmanuel Ravelli
C: I am Emmanuel Ravelli
G: You are Emmanuel Ravelli?
C: I am Emmanuel Ravelli
G: Well, no wonder you look like him. But I must say there is a resemblance.
C: Ha ha, he thinks I look alike.
G: Would you like a suite on the third floor?
C: No, I'll take a polack in the basement
(I have Polish in my ancestry so I'm allowed to laugh at that pun)
G: What do you think of the traffic problem? What do you think of the marriage problem? What do you think of at night when you go to bed, you BEAST?
G: Hands off, Gottlieb, I saw her first. Of course her mother really saw her first, but there's no use bringing the Civil War into this.
GUY: Isn't that awfully large for a pill?
G: Well it was too small for a basketball and I didn't know what to do with it. Say you're awfully large for a pill yourself.
MD: Are you sure you have everything, Otis?
G: I haven't had any complaints yet!
G: Do you have any stewed prunes?
STEWARD: Yes
G: Well, give them some black coffee. That'll sober 'em up.
G: Honorable Charles H Hongerdonger, care of Hongerdonger, Hongerdonger, Hongerdonger, Hongerdonger, and McCormick. Semicolon.
Z: How do you spell semicolon?
G: Alright, make it a comma.
G: Don't drink that poison, it's four dollars an ounce!
I could do this all day. So I'll stop.

....and it should have won best song of that year. But I digress.
-
All these people younger than me. Yay! What hopes I have for this generation!
-
Aw, man, now you'll all know how young I am.
Well, 1983 was a crappy year in cinema, IMHO, so there are only 2 films I like from that year--I love them both, but I don't even like any others (that I can think of):
Return of the Jedi and A Christmas Story. Of course if you count short films, I'll say Mickey's Christmas Carol.

I'll take my parents year over mine any time: 1958. A much better year for cinema.

I loved the marathon! I've never seen any Our Gang shorts. They are so funny! I hope they show them more often, in a scheduled place, not just as filler.

What a Way to Go
-
awesome!!! By answering that correctly you prove how cool you are.
Your thread!
-
Yes but which In-N-Out? There are several in my backyard.

-
I remember the first time I ever saw Manchurian Candidate. She was so incredible I could not believe it. I kept screaming "Mrs Potts!!!! NOOOOOO!!!!!!" and inside I was saying "Man she's awesome!"
-
My favorite actress on the planet is Angela Lansbury. So, Angela Lansbury.
(both my favorite actors are dead) -
I'm hoping I can see Fantasia. That's what I want to see SO badly. As I said in another thread, I'm a mega classic disney fan and an animation nut. So seeing Fantasia on the big screen, with a live orchestra and an audience of Fantasia fans? I'm there!!! (I hope)
If I had $200 I'd be there more anyway. -
Is my song too obscure? It's from a movie from the early '80s, a tribute and also parody of old musicals, starring a famous green star.
-
I'd be down for that too, even though I already live here.

-
If I can get an individual movie pass (for that is all I would be able to afford) I will be going. I already live half an hour away from these venues, and I cannot resist the desire to go, assuming I don't get incredibly busy like last year. Plus, as someone who lives here, I owe it to those who live far away and can't come to at least be there, right?
-
As someone who is poor, but loves TCM, and lives nearby anyway, I was wondering if individual film passes will be available? As a humongous classic disney fan, a classical music fan, and an animation fan in general, I was hoping I could hop on the train and go down to see Fantasia.

Umbrellas of Cherbourg
-
Oh, and another song. Sorry.

Well, here's the next set of lyrics. I just read the rules again, so it's movie title and next line of the song or the title of the song, just so we know you know the song.

In this case, the next two words will do the trick:
"Where does the rapture begin and grow?
Where does devotion and passion, grow?
Happiness....."
-
"Bobbing along, singing a song, on the bottom of the beautiful briney sea!"
My favorite song from my favorite live action Disney film:
BEDKNOBS and BROOMSTICKS.
And now I forgot what the original question is so I'll throw in Angela Lansbury and David Thomlinson sang this Sherman Brothers tune. Great.
-
Not sure if it was the initial episode, and I don't recall the details, so this is a guess (since a lot of classic TV had classic movie directors):
Playhouse 90, episode Bomber's Moon, Martin Balsam, dir John Frankenheimer
-
Sinatra would have been fantastic, but I think Gordon MacRae is great in it. He has such a gorgeous voice.
-
Assuming you're not a troll, Mickey Rooney is an amazing performer, and most of his colleagues thought he was the most talented person in Hollywood. And whether you're a fan or not, his humongous film output makes him deserving of a spotlight.
-
My favorite Hitchcock villain is definitely Bruno Antony from Strangers on a Train. Not only a fantastic performance, but just an interesting character. And psychotic people like that are scarier than revenge types.
