I guess sometimes during the 70's Tony Curtis started doing shlock. I think he had a reoccurring role in the Robert Urich vehicle Vegas, (not to be confused with the current Dennis Quaid / Michael Chicklis CBS show.) His Some Like It Hot Castmate Jack Lemmon had a much better run as he got older. I guess an exception would be the Nicholas Roeg film Insignificance.
I bought the Manitou last year on VHS. It's pretty funny. My friend met Susan Strassbourg when she was doing a play. He thought about asking her about that film but he didn't.

I've notice that Bollywood films seem to have longer runnning times than American cinema. 150 minutes plus is not uncommon.

Dakota Fanning was in War Of The Worlds. Elle was in Phoebe In Wonderland.

Elle Fanning gave a great performance in Phoebe In Wonderland.

Actuall VH1 Classic shows a lot of those films. In the past they've shown:
Tommy
Pink Floyd's The Wall
Ziggy Stardust
Anvil: The Story Of Anvil
The Song Remains The Same
Laddies And Gentlemen The Rolling Stones
Some Girl, (another Rolling Stones concert film from 1978)
and a few more I can't recall
However the channel does have comercials.
TCM has shown Heavy Metal a couple of times. VH1 Classic hasn't.

When it first stated as short on the Tracy Ullman show Homer's voice sounded kind of like Walter Matthau's. The voice changed a season or two into the show long run. Watch an episode from season One or Two and compare.

I saw Moonrise Kingdom a couple of weeks ago. You're right, those kids were great. It might have been one of Wes Anderson's best movie.
(maybe another thread can be about Wes Anderson and how his movies resemble 30's screwball comedies.)
-
I've seen Hounddog. Trust is a much better film.

Sorry, I made a typo. The girl met an older man not an old man.
Dakota Fanning does not seem to have substance abuse issues so she may have one up on Lindsay Lohan.
Another good kid performance, (wow back to classic movies) was Peggy Ann Gardner in A Tree Grows In Brooklyn.
My favorite scenes in a Shirley Temple movie were Jane Withers acting like a brat, ("oh good Uncle Ed Doesn't have to live with us anymore") I get that kid.

Haley Joel Osmet has been in a few films since The Six Sense: AI, Pay It Forward, (which was lambasted on another thread even though the idea itself isn't bad) Second Hand Lions, Home Of The Giants, and the wonderfully titled The Misadventures Of Dunderheads, (I have it on my DVR.) He doesn't seem to make that many films.
Scarlett Johansen gave maybe her best performance when she was 12 in Manny And Lo.
I just saw a film called Trust about a 14 year old girl who gets sexually assaulted after meeting a old man on the Internet. Newcomer Liana Liberato gave a memorable heartbreaking performance. (Maybe 14 is older than the intent of the thread?)

I really don't see the resembelence to Walter Matthau. The only thing I see in common in the weary **** of look in their faces.

Gremlins takes place during the holidays but isn't exactly a Christmas movie.
-
I'm still waiting for the movie about the man in Ohio who killed himself and then released all the wild animals of his property. (I startted a thread on it when it happened. People these days have short memories.)

Wasn't he in The Backstreet Boys?

I just watched it this morning. It was a bad as I heard it was. Hearding Lee Majors with his slight southern accent, (I think he was born in Michigan but grew in in Kentucky) trying to sound like a viking was strange and pretty funny. Cornel Wilde looked like Gandolf had wandered into the wrong movie. If your a fan of bad dialogue and facial hair this is your film.
-
If your a fan of misbegotten and obscure 70's films you might want to check out The Manitou.

"Cary Grant in Midnight Cowboy? And I thought I was going out on a limb with Rosemary's Baby.
Yesterday I watched I'm Not There with Cate Blanchett and Richard Gere, (among others) as Bob Dylan. After seeing that maybe it's in the realm of possibility?
(Actually though I think his take on the short role would have been interesting, in the end it would have been too distracting.)

For a second there I thought you were talking about The Monkeys movies, (which TCM has shown a few times.)
I also thought it could been about aspect ration gone wrong, (such as " the print is messed up, I can't see his head.")
-
I know Lassie has been played by many male dogs, but I think one family has controlled the breeding.
To get back on topic, what if Cary Grant played the Barnard Hughes role in Midnight Cowboy?

"It's the only Frank Sinatra movie missing from my collection." (Johnny Concho)
Does that include Cannonball Run 2 ?

During last months animation special they also showed Mr Bug Goes To Town and The Adventures Of Prince Achmed.

On Saturday November 17 at noon Disney Jr is going to show the 1951 animated version of Alice In Wonderland. Once in a great while The Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Jr will dip into the old catalog. They showed a lot more of it about 12 or 13 years ago.

What's annoying to me is that I watch most movies via DVR. That means I still have political ads on the comercial stations I taped, (SYFY, TBS, THIS.) However I can always fast forward them. I guess they'll go away in a month or two, (that what she said.)

Since her show Brother And Sisters was cancelled ABC seems to have problems filling it's Sunday 10PM slot. Pan Am and GCB are gone. 666 Park Avenue, (which I'm actually watching right now) also seems to be having trouble.

The Manitou was Director by William Girder. Soon after the movie was completed he died in a helicopter crash.
