  1. of course, Van Gogh! *The Red Shoes* nw: ivy league
  2. I'm guessing it would be *La Dolce Vita* (Nino Rota). Would you be referring to the opening of the movie where a statue of Christ is flown across Rome?... Seen as blasphemous by the Vatican, the movie ended being banned in some countries due to that scene and the general premise of the film.
  3. good one, CharlieT! *Jean de Florette* (1986) nw: sunflowers
  4. The movie is *Kind Hearts and Coronets* (1949), and Alec Guiness plays all of these parts: The Duke, The Banker, The Parson, The General, The Admiral, Young Ascoyne, Young Henry, Lady Agatha. Oh, and it has a great tagline: "A hilarious study in the gentle art of murder." Does TCM ever run this movie?
  5. 1. In what film was the following line, "Best part of the day, sundown" ? *Sundown* 2. In what film did Lloyd Bridges say, "To rest is not to conquer" ? *The White Tower* 3. In the film SAHARA, what was the name of Humphrey Bogart's tank? *Lulabelle* Thanks for reminding me of these movies...
  6. No players for this one, eh... The line is by Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford) in *The Natural* (1984)
  7. It WAS familiar, Polecat -- just couldn't place it! What a great line!
  8. Dan, I keep hoping you'll give the answer to this quote... I can see the scene in my mind's eye, but can't remember the movie. A conversation between a man and a woman, I believe he's a scientist and they are in a lab. The quote is the woman's... What IS the film?
  9. I think I know the answer -- it's a movie I don't believe I've ever seen! Good clue, Casablancalover! (I'd give the answer, but can't post a new pic...)
  10. Smart Alec! (sorry, couldn't resist the pun...)
  11. Here's another one... "You just fulfilled the first rule of law enforcement: make sure when your shift is over you go home alive. Here endeth the lesson."
  12. The Mermaids line was a good one -- didn't have a clue! The new one is from *Die Hard with a Vengeance*, spoken by Jeremy Irons' character.
  13. oh, and there was a doctor in the movie -- I think he was helping the woman -- seems like he was played by the same actor that played an M.D. in the TV show 'I Dream of Jeanie.'
  14. I'm guessing one or the other had to be branded 'Acme'... (gosh, it has been so long since I saw that movie -- don't really know)
  15. The answer to #13 (1942) is *Casablanca* Tag #14: "When you deal a fast shuffle...Love is in the cards." (1941)
