  1. Our warehouses cannot buy cleaning supplies because our supplier (and even Amazon) is completely sold out. Who knew that the idea of washing your hands was such a novel idea that it would incite such panic?
  2. The Tool concert we were attending tonight in Eugene, OR has been postponed. I'm just glad we lived close enough that we were planning on driving down today and staying overnight in a hotel across the street from the venue. Our hotel refunded the fee with no problems, despite only a few hours cancellation notice.
  3. I just bought two big packs (not Costco-sized) today at the grocery store. Not because I'm hoarding it, but because I don't want to run out because everyone else is hoarding it.
  4. I've seen this movie before. I agree that Eddie Cantor's comedy is dated. My favorite part of this movie is (surprise!) the Errol Flynn part. I also loved Ann Sheridan's song and while Dennis Morgan's singing style isn't my favorite, I love Dennis Morgan so I look past it.
  5. Okay. Cool. I guess I felt like it was longer only because 10 years doesn't seem like that much time to decide that a movie needs to be preserved.
  6. It was really good. It was kind of noirish, it was funny, I would watch it again.
  7. Motherless Brooklyn was really good. We rented it on RedBox. I was disappointed to read that Edward Norton's pet project didn't do well at the box office.
  8. Lol. I do like Cagney and Dennis Morgan. I'll definitely need to keep an eye out for this film. Maybe Brenda saw her performance in The Sea Hawk and decided to spice things up a bit. Honestly, I don't think she's terrible, I just think she isn't anything special. She's watchable, and I'll watch movies that she's in, but I don't think I'd watch a film specifically because she was in it. But I wouldn't avoid her in a film either. Heck, I won't even avoid a film because of Mickey Rooney, and I can't stand him.
  9. The problem I think with pre-setting a recording is that while Noir Alley usually airs at 9:00pm (PST), there are the occasions where the programmers have scheduled a longer film ahead of Noir Alley, and it doesn't start until 9:15pm or 9:30pm. I cannot say if the Sunday morning encore airs consistently at the same time. In my Dish guide, Noir Alley isn't listed like a regular series would be, my guide just shows me the name of the film. I've just gotten in the habit of manually setting up the Saturday 9:00 movie up to record.
  10. Okay. I've solved the mystery of the first film still. It's not from any film. It's a photo that someone took of a woman acting the part of a femme fatale. They used lighting and black and white to emulate the look of film noir. https://www.prophotonut.com/2013/02/17/film-noir-a-hollywood-style-reborn/
  11. Lol. I tried doing a Google Image Search on this and all I got was "Noir Photography" and "Noir Femme Fatale" but it didn't actually say who the femme fatale was. The matches I got made it seem like this was a stock image of a femme fatale.
  12. I agree about Ghostbusters. It came out the same year I was born, I'm hoping I don't need to be "preserved" yet. Lol. I wish that they would work on preserving some of the older films, since physical film is so sensitive to time.
  13. On their website, you can sort the list of inductees by release year. I see a film called 13 Lakes was only 10 years old. Brokeback Mountain was 13 years old when it was inducted. I didn't look through the whole list though. Wiki has some stats listed on the National Film Registry page.
  14. I haven't seen this film. I'll have to look out for it on TCM's schedule.
  15. I don't either. I last watched the film a few months ago during my Edmond O'Brien kick. I should give that a re-watch at some point as well.
  16. I wonder if they lowered the restriction (or maybe it's always been this way and I'm misinformed), on their website, the Nat'l Film Registry says 10 years.
  17. I did a Google Image Search for the second photo and it's also from The Killers.
  18. Lol. Brenda Marshall wasn't much of an actress. She's very wooden in her films with Flynn. And against Flynn's charisma, her woodenness is even more apparent. If only Olivia de Havilland hadn't turned down The Sea Hawk, I think she would have been much better in the part. Marshall is a pretty face without much else. For years, I only knew of Marshall as "Mrs. William Holden," I had no idea that she was actually an actress, or even what her first name was. Brenda Marshall isn't even her real name. Her real name is Ardis or something like that.
  19. I don't think Holden and Marshall spent the entire 30 years together however. I think the separation happened at least 10 years prior, if not earlier, it seems it just took them awhile to divorce.
  20. I think it seems kind of harsh to say that a film isn't worth preserving. If that was the case, all the films I despised I would vote for, but that wouldn't be fair to those who love those movies. As far as I am concerned, The Long, Long Trailer belongs at the top of the preservation list.
  21. I think a film has to be at least 25 years old before it can even be considered for inclusion. But I agree with Lawrence, I think the National Film Registry only focuses on American films.
  22. Richard Gaines was married to Brenda Marshall, before she married William Holden. He's much like Fred Clark and Leon Ames, he pops up everywhere. I usually recognize his voice before anything else. Gaines also plays Jean Arthur's fiance, Charles J. Pendergast, in The More the Merrier. I think he wears a bad toupee in that film. He's also in The Enchanted Cottage. I think he's Robert Young's stepfather in that film.
  23. 921 Gunga Din, no 922 I believe is George Washington Slept Here. I really like that film. It's another comedic film about a money pit house, much in the same vein as Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. 923 The Three Musketeers. I believe that is the version with Gene Kelly and Lana Turner, then yes. 924 I believe is Rancho Notorious, which I've seen. 925 Based on Donald O'Connor, Ethel Merman, and Vera-Ellen, I think this is Call Me Madam which I haven't seen. 926 I'm not sure, it doesn't look like anything I've seen 927 Freaky Friday, Yes 928 The War of the Roses, No 929 Not sure, but it doesn't look like anything I've watched 930 Million Dollar Baby, No
  24. In the earlier one of these: I’ve seen “Blithe Spirit.” I love this movie. I bought the David Lean Directs Noel Coward Criterion set (during 50% off sale, of course) just for this film. “Splendor in the Grass.” Though it’s not a film I can watch all the time, but sometimes I’m in the mood for it. Natalie Wood did a tremendous job in this film, as did Barbara Loden. “Mary Poppins.” I’ve seen this film multiple times. While I like the movie, it’s not my absolute favorite live action Disney film. I love the Hayley Mills films more. ”Carnal Knowledge.” I’ve only seen part of this movie. I should really watch the whole thing. ”Naked Gun.” Yes! I love this movie. It’s my favorite in the list. In fact, we just watched it the other day. “I practice safe sex.” “So do I.”
