Yes! I agree with you re: understanding Ellen. She's on a romantic honeymoon and here comes Cornel's family. That would annoy me too--not to the point of killing the young brother, but yes I could understand her frustration. I can't help but see Cornel Wilde and not think of I Love Lucy. I wonder if the repeat of The Breaking Point will literally be just a repeat or if Eddie has filmed a different intro for it. I honestly wouldn't mind if they added some repeats of the series. I missed a bunch of the films during the early days of Noir Alley when it was only once a week at 7am on Sunday!

Even though the story doesn't end happily, I think that Brief Encounter is one of the best romantic films.

I'm indifferent to Clint Eastwood. I thought he was good in Unforgiven and he was excellent playing himself in an episode of Mr. Ed. I do love Fatal Attraction. I'll keep an eye out for this film. Thanks!

I love Eddie G. so I'll have to see which films of his are featured and which I want to see. If anyone hasn't seen it, I highly recommend Five Star Final. It looks like there is a spotlight on women ("Wonder Women" about women like Helen Keller, Cleopatra, Marie Antoinette...) and one on Asian Americans. 5/1 Looks like a daytime tribute to Tennessee Williams. His stories are always delightfully depressing. Even though I'm not typically into alien stories, I am interested in Cocoon, just to see Don Ameche in his Oscar-winning role. 5/2 Donald O'Connor double feature. I've seen Singin' in the Rain a million times, but I'll probably watch it again. But I'm interested in Francis. You can't go wrong with talking animals. ATTN TCM PROGRAMMERS: DONALD O'CONNOR FOR SOTM OR SUTS!! 5/5 Cinco De Mayo A day of films taking place in Mexico 5/6 Miss Pacific Fleet. This sounds promising: Joan Blondell and Glenda Farrell play stranded showgirls who win a beauty contest in order to win the money to make it back home. Page Miss Glory. A Dick Powell movie I haven't seen. Though, I think I prefer Powell post-musicals, when he was more hard-boiled. Night Song. Starring Merle Oberon and Dana Andrews. I just listened to a podcast episode about Oberon and how she bleached her skin in an effort to hide her Asian ethnicity. I'm curious now to see her in more films. 5/8 The Man I Love. An Ida Lupino film I haven't seen. 5/9 Edge of the City. This Sidney Poitier film sounds good. 5/11 Varsity Show. Another Dick Powell film that I haven't seen. 5/12 Katharine Hepburn birthday tribute Spitfire. This sounds awful. I'd like to see it. 5/14 Eddie G's night. I love The Whole Town's Talking and Larceny, Inc. The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse is really good too. I wish the doc had a different last name. I may DVR A Slight Case of Murder. I haven't seen that one yet. 5/15 James Mason birthday tribute TCM Underground. Magic with Anthony Hopkins, Ann-Margret, Burgess Meredith. This is a pretty good cast for a movie about a demonic puppet. This sounds like something I'd watch. Ventriloquist puppets are usually pretty creepy (see Charlie McCarthy or Gabbo on The Simpsons). This short also sounds amazing: One Got Fat- "Children wearing monkey masks pay the price for bad bicycle safety habits in this instructional short." Match Your Mood!! The second best short that TCM airs. #1 being (of course) The Wonderful World of Tupperware. 5/16 The Flame and the Arrow. A Burt Lancaster film that I haven't seen. 5/18 The 1932 Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This is a great adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson story. 5/18 College musicals night. I have tried watching Good News three times and cannot get through it. My personal pick is Too Many Girls. 1) It's the film where Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz met. And 2) Desi Arnaz is hot in this film. 3) Desi Arnaz and Ann Miller do a fantastic conga number in this film. 4) You can see Lucille Ball mess up the choreography in the big number at the end of the film. 5) Van Johnson is an extra in the crowd. 6) There's a credited cast member named "Tiny Person." I love Liza, but I wish that TCM would re-air some of the other Private Screenings episodes. 5/21 Robert Montgomery birthday tribute 5/23 Ooh Errol Flynn double feature: Uncertain Glory and Edge of Darkness. I've seen (and own) both of these films, but both are excellent. I especially love Uncertain Glory. 5/24 Wings. I've never seen the first Best Picture winner. 5/28 Too Late For Tears. This is a fantastic noir starring Lizabeth Scott and Dan Duryea. Five Star Final. YES! Great movie. 5/30 How Sweet it Is! I think I've seen this Debbie Reynolds/James Garner movie before, but I cannot remember. All in all, I think it looks like a pretty decent month.

Ok. I thought I recognized Barbara Stanwyck. I haven't seen Annie Oakley yet. I also recognized Sigourney Weaver. I actually haven't seen Alien. It's not my type of movie at all.

I have The Fountainhead on the DVR. I really look forward to watching it after reading it being ripped to shreds here on the boards. I think I'm going to wait until my husband is home for the evening. He can tell me how closely it follows the book.

671 Metropolis. I haven't seen this one, but it is notorious in my family because my sister had to watch it for a film class and found it excruciating to watch. I've been trying to convince her that not all Fritz Lang's films are like this, and she finally conceded that she did like Woman in the Window. So there's that. I think I'll need to see Metropolis sometime. 672 ? I don't think I've seen this one. 673 The Magnificent Ambersons. I love this movie. I wish the studio hadn't chopped it up. Agnes Moorehead's Aunt Fanny was amazing. She deserved a Supporting Actress Oscar. I wish there'd been a sequel just about Aunt Fanny. They could have called it The Magnificent Aunt Fanny. 674 Life With Father. I think I've only seen part of this movie. I'll need to re-watch. 675 Rebel Without a Cause. I know James Dean is a bit over the top in this movie, but I love it. I love this whole film. 676 The Courtship of Eddie's Father. I don't normally like kid-centric films, but Ron Howard is so good in this movie. I love when he's coaching dad Glenn Ford how to call up Shirley Jones. Ron pretends to be Shirley and Glenn has to be himself. Ron as Shirley keeps calling Glenn " My Sugar Man." Lol. 677 I recognize Clint Eastwood, but I'm not sure which film this is 678 ? 679 Who Framed Roger Rabbit? I've seen this one. It's okay, but I prefer my Roger Rabbit in ride form at Disneyland. The best part of the film is when the Disney and Warner Brothers characters are together. 680 ?

Re: the original Blob Does anyone besides me wish that Helen Crump was eaten by "The Blob" ? She was so annoying on Andy Griffith. Not even The Blob wanted her, apparently.

I better get moving, I only have 5 years left! Though I've already hooked my "Alan" though I don't know if I really moved up in the social world of the Willamette Valley. I think it was more of a lateral move.

Re: rating a movie. No it doesn't notify everyone. You only receive a notification about movies you rate if someone comments on the review. Otherwise, the only way we'll see what you're doing is if we look at our activity feed. I don't know what it is with me and lists. I enjoy making them whatever reason. I also have my Criterion on the Criterion site. I only really visit the Criterion site though when they have a flash sale. I also have a Goodreads profile which is kind of like Letterboxd but for books. My profile on there is hardly as interesting however as it takes me FOREVER to finish a book.

My favorite Betty Field moment in Picnic when she is trying to get Kim Novak (turning 87 today btw) to consider "making it" (as they say on 90210) with Alan at the picnic. "There won't be many more opportunities after the picnic tonight" she says. Then when Betty expresses to daughter Kim that she shouldn't waste her looks by not "marrying up" when she's young: KIM: I'm only 19 BETTY: And next year you'll be 20. And then 21. Then 40! KIM: You don't have to be morbid. This weird, awkward conversation between mother and daughter always makes me laugh.
