The Hitch-Hiker was so good! I loved it. It’s still good after subsequent viewings too. William Talman was genuinely terrifying. The Bigamist is really good too. I genuinely felt sympathy for Edmond O’Brien’s bigamist.

I THINK YOU’RE EVIL! EVIL!!! -
I'm watching All About Eve. I think I've watched this movie 3 times in a month. I love this movie, I never tire of watching Addison rip apart Eve. I think I may watch Where the Boys Are next. I literally just watched this 2 days ago, but I'm going to watch it again. I've seen it at least a dozen times (probably more) and I never tire of it. I also just found out that the movie was based on a novel of the same name and it's available on Kindle. I am looking forward to reading it to see how it differs from the movie.

Ooh I have the Criterion of The Asphalt Jungle and The Sweet Smell of Success as well! I'm jealous about your Buster Keaton collection. I'm looking for Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd right now. Aside from those, the only thing on my radar right now is the Ida Lupino Filmmakers Collection.

No problem! I think I'm going to work from that list as well. I always DVR Noir Alley and try to watch all of them. I even DVR the movies that I already own, just so that I can hear Eddie's commentary. I found his Dark City: The Lost World of Film Noir book in a used bookstore while I was in the Bay Area last week for $5. I look forward to reading it. EDDIE!! IF YOU'RE READING THIS, PLEASE BRING YOUR NOIR FESTIVAL to PORTLAND, OREGON!

I posted a response to your question. Your inquiry makes me want to catch up on Eddie's picks. I've seen a lot of them, or have them recorded; but I missed quite a few at the beginning when Noir Alley only aired Sundays at 7am. I kept forgetting to DVR the films. Saturday at 9pm works so much better for me.

I am working from home and treating myself to the Douglas Sirk melodramas that are on Watch TCM. Right now, I'm watching All That Heaven Allows. Jane Wyman's kids suck. They drive her away from the man she loves, then have the nerve to act all nonchalant about the things they were whining about. Then, the son has the gall to buy his mother a television set, stating that that's all the companionship she'll ever need. Screw you son.

As a middle schooler, I used to watch Biography on A&E back in the 90s as well. I would check out that week's Biography schedule and set up my VCR. I think I still have my VHS that has the Lucille Ball/Desi Arnaz Biography episode. Unfortunately, I do not have a VCR. I remember when the Biography channel started, I think we did have the channel. But I remember that the Biography episodes started being less interesting once they were on their own channel--they started doing Biography episodes about current celebrities. I also loved to watch Mysteries & Scandals w/ AJ Benza on E!. I know that that was tabloid television, but I liked how the gossip was presented. For now, PBS does excellent American Masters episodes. I watch those when they're covering someone I'm interested in. Is it weird that sometimes I don't like watching documentaries about people who I really love because I know that they'll die at the end and that makes me sad? Like I'm not delusional that the person is still alive, but I don't like being reminded that they died.

While I don't hate the original three Star Wars films (mostly because they're a bit corny), and for whatever reason, I own three Star Wars shirts (1 R2-D2, 1 Princess Leia, and 1 original Star Wars Poster), I would pretty much rather watch anything else than either Star Wars or Star Trek. The Star Wars movies (all of them) just run together for me. AND WHY DIDN'T CHEWBACCA GET AN AWARD FROM PRINCESS LEIA AT THE END OF THE ORIGINAL MOVIE? He did all the work!

It's been up for about a month now. I see you're in Canada, you will want to click on the Canadian link to see the schedule. Programming can sometimes vary between the US and Canada.

I was on a Robert Ryan kick awhile back too. I haven't watched his war films or westerns yet, because neither of those are my favorite genres--but I think I have a couple of them recorded. As for Ryan noir, I recommend The Set-Up, Crossfire, and Odds Against Tomorrow.

I love Betty White. Last night, my sister and I had a birthday party for Betty White. We watched Sue-Ann centric episodes of Mary Tyler Moore and the best Rose episodes of The Golden Girls. We also had some sparkling Rose (Nylund) and a strawberry cheesecake in honor of Sue Ann's "Shh...urely that's not how a strawberry swirl is supposed to look" and the Golden Girls' love of Cheesecake. If only I could have figured out how to make Sue Ann's Veal Prince Orloff or her Baked Pears Alicia. Instead we settled for shrimp and grits and a side of rainbow cauliflower.

I would get that card for my BFF. I'd cross out "Mother's" and replace it with "Birth." Lol. -

I love Mommie Dearest. Personally, I empathized with Joan. Christina sucked. -

Reefer Madness has attained cult status, like the Ed Wood movies, which makes them "good" in some manner. Lol. I liked Reefer Madness and its insinuation that marijuana turns girls into "brazen hussies." I'm not the biggest fan of sci-fi, but I love the bad ones of the 50s-60s. They're much more entertaining than the good ones. -

Annie: Satan's Mistress would definitely spice up that story. I mean Annie already looks the part, what with her lack of irises and pupils. "...The sun'll come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, the ritual has begun Satan's work is done, six six six number of the beast, sacrifice is going on tonight!" It's a "Hard Knock Life" for sure. -

So I guess that makes Eddie Murphy's version the definitive telling of the Doctor Doolittle story? -

Not to segue the conversation into a discussion about women's bosoms, but typically women in the classic era aren't very buxom. The only two that immediately come to mind (aside from Russell) are Janet Leigh and Bette Davis. But I think Russell has them both beat... by a cup at least. -

God forbid she ever don a torpedo bra! You'd have to put blinkers on her! -
I know Fred MacMurray was just SOTM a couple years ago, but I would welcome him as SOTM again!

I love Boys Night Out. James Garner, Howard "Ernest T. Bass" Morris, Howard Duff, and Tony Randall make for a very amusing group of friends. Their wives, and in Garner's case, mother, are very funny, especially when they get trashed at a restaurant. I also agree with Cinema Int'l's comments about Kim Novak's comedic skills. I don't know if there is another Novak comedy that immediately comes to mind. And how great is the apartment that Garner finds and Novak lives in? One thing I love about the 50s/60s films is how great everyone's bachelor/bachelorette pads are.
