I had been on set many times during the filming of SUCH GOOD FRIENDS and except for James Coco he had everyone terrified from Jennifer O'Neill to Laurence Luckenbill to all the extras - except one who stood up to him. Reportably Mitchum smacked him in the face on two different occasions....agent Swifty Lazar broke a glass over his head. During the filming of SKIDOO he constantly threatened to replace actor Austin Pendelton with Dustin Hoffman....songwriter Harry Neilsson refers to him as a sauerkraut in his lyrics for The Garbage Can Ballet (also from SKIDOO).
