  1. This couple made some films together and starred in a tv comedy series in the '50's.

(Not Lucy & Desi) The Couple and name of tv series, extra for some of the films they were in together ????????

Howard Duff and Ida Lupino? "Mr. Adams and Eve"? WOMAN IN HIDING, WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS, JENNIFER, PRIVATE HELL 36, WOMEN'S PRISON

  2. FYI-- in those chauvinistic times they always put the man's name first. But George Burns would have told you in a minute that Gracie was the star of the show always-- as he told Johnny Carson many times on The Tonight Show.

George produced The Bob Cummings Show, Love That Bob and Mr. Ed just to name two other shows.

    Back to my question:

    He was a stage producer

    She was a columnist

  3. I'm not saying I support these type of 'group' (but really non-group),  experiences.    When I 'visit' with my friends I like to be in the same room with them!    Yea, their extreme need to communicate borders on the insane.     When I took my nephews hiking I said no devices were allowed.    They did it,  and while they said they enjoyed the hike,  they appear to be avoiding me about doing this on a more routine basis.    (yea, that single was loud and clear without a Tweet!).

But this is the way things are going.

DO you feel the need to be with your live friends ALL the time? These young people can't stand to be EVER out of touch.

  4. Actually, Princess, I'm going to have to take back my comment about Desi Arnaz being a stretch.  He did do some recordings, although his performances on the TV show were done live, rather than lip-synching to a previous recording.  Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Frazier, your answer was  perfectly acceptable, so go ahead with another question and let's continue the game.

A team that did numerous successful game shows did one which was similar to "You Bet Your Life". What was its name and who was the host?

  5. I told you it was easy.

    Fra, your turn--

You said that the wife was the star of the show, and the husband appeared. I thought they were the co-stars.

Next: He was a producer of stage.

              She was a columnist.

  6. You are really out of touch with how many young people communicate today.    e.g. when they go to a concert and they will Tweet to each other during the show 'hey, did you see what Katy Perry did during XYZ'.

Or there is the water cooler type of experience between 'friends' about shared experiences.

While I don't participate in these new forms of communication and find them 'odd' this is where it is at.    TCM is trying to build market share using these methods.     Sports programming is going this way as well;   Tweets after great plays to the 'gang'.

A lot of young people are doing something with their devices during their entire waking hours, which I find extremely psychopathic.

  7.

    Lucy and Desi might qualify,

You're back on the right track with Lucy and Desi. This was a famous couple that was a household word in classic TV. This is not a hard question.

This couple were stars in the movies and on television and radio.

    George Burns and Gracie Allen?

  8. The two-time Oscar winner Ben Affleck is hoping to direct and star in a new version of "Witness for the Proscution," based on a story by Agatha Christie first published in 1925. It was adapted as a play in 1953.

A 1957 screen version, co-written and directed by Billy Wilder, starred Charles Laughton, Tyrone Power (in his last complete film role), Marlene Dietrich and  Elsa Lanchester. The film earned seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Laughton) and Best Supporting Actress (Lanchester).

Affleck shared the 1997 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for "Good Will Hunting" with his friend and co-star Matt Damon. He won a 2012 Oscar as a co-producer (with George Clooney and Grant Heslov) of "Argo" which was named Best Picture, Affleck also directed that film.

Affleck in the Charles Laughton role? Affleck has always reminded me of Laughton.
