  7. Fun facts about Robert Redford: * Birth name: Charles Robert Redford Jr. * Lost out on the role of Ben Braddock in *The Graduate* (1967) because director Mike Nichols didn't think anyone would believe Redford would have trouble getting "the girl". * In the early 1970s Paramount had plans to remake *Double Indemnity* (1944) with Redford in the Fred MacMurray role. The project never got off the ground.

  11. Well, this is kind of like the one with the favorite stars from the South. The only ones from the Midwest I can think of are Judy Garland (Minnesota) and Marlon Brando (Nebraska). Can anyone help me with the ones I didn't think of?
  12. wouldbestar, You can't go wrong with Slightly Scarlet, especially if you like noir. Though I have to confess, I've never watched it on DVD.

  14. Oh, I think it'll be worth the wait. You won't be disappointed, especially if you're a Ray fan.
  15. Very lovely artwork and beautiful colors for a movie that is still one of the high points of classic Hollywood.
  16. Has anyone else watched this lately? It just came out on DVD and blu-ray from the Criterion Collection. This is a really awesome movie with an incredible performance by James Mason, and an early appearance by Walter Matthau. The movie is pretty hard-hitting in its depiction of someone who self-prescribes a new drug to try to maintain an "edge" after learning he has a life-threatening condition. Very good Nick Ray movie, and sadly underrated.
  17. Joseph Cotten was in Shadow of a Doubt with Teresa Wright
