  1. Irwin Allen directed Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea with Walter Pidgeon
  2. Oh, they're both so suave... I wouldn't know which one to choose.
  3. Thank you, arlene & Lynn. He's almost as good-looking as Louis Jourdan!

I ask because a few years back Stella Artios (the beer company) sponsored a series of movie-related tie-ins on TCM but they were given credit at the end. No, it was a real commercial. Just like the ones they show in the networks.

  7. Yes, I saw the commercial, too, and immediately did a double take. By the way, it's a Yaris, not Yarus.
  8. Sturges directed The Great Escape with Steve McQueen
  9. I feel so bad that I haven't seen it yet - there's been lovely, sunny and somewhat warm weather here the last couple of days, excellent for going out to the park or the beach. But I'm sure I'll get to it pretty soon.

  12. Jef, arlene, you've both posted some great names that slipped my mind earlier. Now, let's see some photos!
  13. Awww.. but it was one of the most ambitious movies of the 30s... and more or less the swan song of Irving Thalberg. Quo Vadis is an epic with 1st class production values, but I've never been too excited about it. Feel free to relegate it to the 2nd class status if you wish.
  14. I'm glad she made a few films, at all. I think it took a lot for Powell-Pressburger to convince her to make The Red Shoes
  15. Absolutely - and she was such a great dancer, too!
  16. > {quote:title=Poinciana wrote:}{quote} > Our loveable Edgar Buchanan was a practicing dentist before becoming an actor. His wife took over his practice when Edgar couldn't leave the "bug" alone. He was known for using his dental skills on the set numerous times and I just read where he even pulled a tooth for his long-time stand-in Jack Henderson on set. More than an adored character actor... Wow, that probably didn't happen very often. I'll bet anyone was comforted by his presence on the set if they ever got a sudden toothache. > Speaking of Kitty Hawks - then there was Bill Lear of Lear Jet fame who (I'm not kidding) named his daughter Shanda. LOL - that sounds almost cruel... I wonder if she ever thought about changing her name...
