You can rest easy, it is definitely the real thing, and I don't think anyone would be crazy enough to try and re-do Lucy with a new cast. I don't believe audiences would accept anyone instead of Lucille, I really don't.

Well, I don't think it has done too badly, considering that it is more or less a sort of prequel to the old legend we're so used to seeing. Here in the U.S., it opened at #2 because Iron Man 2 is still going strong; I think it may have done a little bit better in Europe and the rest of the world.
The bottom line is, it wasn't a total disaster, and it will probably still appeal to the same audience that enjoyed Crowe in Gladiator.
