Thank you, TCM, for bringing us the double feature tonight consisting of two David Lean movies, especially the TCM premiere of The Sound Barrier - very much appreciated! -

Quite possibly, yes, but he seems to prefer making documentaries. -

Fun facts about your favorite stars
HollywoodGolightly replied to HollywoodGolightly's topic in Your Favorites
Fun facts about Lionel Stander: * Tried to recruit Melvyn Douglas, a prominent liberal, to the Communist Party. * Stander's name is mentioned along with Sterling Hayden's in the movie *Guilty by Suspicion* (1991), from a script by the blacklisted Communist Abraham Polonsky, when the protagonist is grilled by an inquisitorial committee bearing a resemblance to HUAC. * Played "Spider" in both *The Milky Way* (1936) and its remake, *The Kid From Brooklyn* (1946). -
I think I might lean towards Doe myself, but it sure would be nice if they could properly restore the film someday, I believe it is still stuck in the public domain.

Just got back from watching Iron Man 2. Pretty good flick, though admittedly it is always hard for a sequel to recapture the freshness of the original movie. So even though we're already familiar with the Stark/Iron Man character as played so delightfully by Robert Downey Jr., the sequel obviously has a hard act to follow, keeping up what we enjoyed in the first movie but also finding some new stuff for him to do. As such, it's nice to have Mickey Rourke as the main villain, and Scarlett Johansson as a character who is, well, not all she appears to be at first. Samuel Jackson's cameo from the first film has been expanded a bit, and it's nice to see Marvel's "S.H.I.E.L.D." initiative taking form slowly. If you do go watch this, make sure to stay all the way through the end credits, there is a nice little surprise there that will leave you with something to look forward to.... as part of the Marvel universe.
