So, I'm looking ahead at the schedule for tomorrow (Thursday - and the 1st day of the TCM Film Festival) and realized they're doing a birthday tribute to Eddie Albert.
I haven't paid much attention to him in the movies before, but I looked up his photo and he did definitely look very familiar. I'm glad there is a tribute to him tomorrow so I can watch some of his performances.
Thanks, TCM.

These last few days have been happy days for fans of Powell and Pressburger. Just a few days ago, Criterion finally announced the blu-ray release of Black Narcissus and the restored version of The Red Shoes.
The Red Shoes, by the way, is also going to be shown on TCM this Thursday at 8pm ET, as part of a 20th anniversary tribute to the Film Foundation.

Just found this nice essay about Cheyenne Autumn by Toshi Fujiwara - great reading:

Some great ones listed already. I'd just add that something like half of Casablanca takes place at Rick's, which is of course a saloon/nightclub.

Another personal favorite is a scene in the Dodge City saloon in John Ford's My Darling Clementine, which includes this memorable exchange:
*Wyatt Earp*: Have you ever been in love?
*Bartender*: No, I've been a bartender all my life.

Has anyone here seen the recent documentary Not Quite Hollywood, about the Australian film industry?
-
Ha! You got a good point.

-
Oh, yes, I saw that from the first time I watched the movie!

It's safe to say that character which only appeared for a moment at the very end of the credits will be back, and perhaps play a more prominent part in this summer's installment.
As to The Avengers, well, I'm really looking forward to that one, as well.

For the record, I've never seen this movie before, although those who have say the performances amount merely to stereotypes of gay men.
