The movie that is still arguably Sam Raimi's masterpiece is going to air on TCM this Friday on the Underground. Highly recommended!!

William Wyler's: "THE LETTER"

Considering the very ethnocentric viewpoints of Caucasian Americans at the time, I find it very doubtful that Leslie could have possibly regarded Mrs. Hammond as an equal, to think they'd shared a "woman-to-woman" moment, or even felt humbled by that business with the letter. I believe her reaction is very much like those of many Americans who find themselves in developing countries, more indicative of scorn and contempt, not necessarily at any one person, but at the overall system of "justice" in some of these places and how easy it is to get away with (literally) murder. I don't think Leslie would have been truly humbled by anything short of being tried and found guilty of murder - in front of all her society friends!! -

Your hints will be posted separately --- and one will be posted momentarily! Oh, I believe you regarding RHPS, it is a movie that yields rich rewards if you can look beyond the surface and the apparent silliness. But, back to the challenge, I look forward to the next hint!!

TCM is in a class by itself. Surely, you must have been misinformed. -

What Montgomery films have > you seen? Private Lives, Hide-Out, Here Comes Mr. Jordan, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and The Divorcee are some of the first that come to mind, but there's also quite a few others that have shown recently on TCM that I've recorded and want to watch or re-watch. You would probably like Hide-Out a lot, he plays a racketeer on the run who is forced to hide out with some farmers while trying to get away from the police. Maureen O'Sullivan is the beautiful farmer's daughter and Edward Arnold is the detective hot on Montgomery's trail. It's a funny take on the gangster genre.

If they simply had to pick a contemporary star to honor, there's very few out there who'd have been as fine a choice as Denzel Washington, without a doubt. I just wish they could have also shown Much Ado About Nothing, in which Denzel demonstrated he wasn't just gorgeous and talented, but also had the range for Shakespearean roles.

This one is not bad, either (although it seems more like a TV clip) http://technorati.com/videos/youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D5yTqSgCHy9c
