Thank you kindly for the link, Wendy. I should like to get the book; I see that Mr. Carey also has a biographical video that he offers to the public. Has anyone here watched that one?
And back on-topic, what did folks think of Ben Johnson in The Sugarland Express last night?

I do hope everyone's watching and enjoying this great William Wyler movie. As RO pointed out during the intro, it's amazing when you think that the whole tropical environment was so well recreated at the WB soundstages. Up until I heard RO speak those words, I'd never even questioned in my mind whether the movie was made on location or on a soundstage. That's how compelling the illusion is that Wyler and Davis created.

Well, it's certainly a valid point. Hawks and Wise were at least as versatile, if not more, than Wyler.
And speaking of Wyler, did everyone catch the "Essentials" intro to The Letter ? It is interesting that even though it is being presented as part of the William Wyler tribute, Robert and Alec spoke exclusively about the great Bette Davis.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course - although I certainly think that being directed by Wyler helped her give such a great performance.

Personally I don't think it's really necessary. The title and release date are enough for me; I can even do without the bonus features and SRP.

*The Company of Heroes has at least three longer anecdotes about Ben Johnson. It was a great read, and is well worth getting if you are interested in Ford, Johnson, Carey, or westerns.*
I am definitely interested in Ford, Johnson and Carey; "The Company of Heroes" sounds like a must-read for me.

Why do you say that, spencer?

It is very considerate of you to post a link to that discussion, for all those who may be interested in a continuing discussion of Sudden Fear.
And we should definitely look forward to GG in Human Desire tomorrow as part of Fritz Lang day!

I'm used to seeing him with the mustache, too, but the clean-shaven look is actually quite becoming, as well. Same with Flynn or Ameche. But someone like Clark Gable, I think looks better w/ mustache.

I think it works pretty nicely with blu-ray, due to the higher resolution.
