Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, I think they used to do that kind of thing (couple pairings sets) back in the days of laserdiscs. It's a shame they aren't doing it much these days (except maybe stuff like the Myrna Loy/William Powell set)

cinemafan is definitely correct. Holden was, sadly, deteriorating rapidly in the late 50s, and you can see the change in The Horse Soldiers. He still looked a little better in his prior movie, Carol Reed's The Key (1958).

You picked some awesome directors. In hindsight, I wonder if I should have left Jim Jarmusch off my list. I may not be the biggest Jarmusch fan, but I've certainly enjoyed most of his movies very much. I think Stranger than Paradise has grown on me over the years.
