nope, wasn't that old, thinking around the early 50's . it seems like it was in color too. the time period it was set in was from say, 1890 thru 1960 roughly. basiclay followed this family thru their life. and how the town grew up around him and he stated put through it all.

I am trying to remember the name of an old movie, not a lot to go on. the basic story line is an imigrant husband and wife move into the old west, he buys and opens a barber shop in the old west, the film proceeds thru time as he gets older, has a son who grows up and becomes a ganster of sorts and ends up with a shoot out at the barber shop where his dad gets shot....ring any bells ?
