Looking for the title of an old movie (maybe made in the 40s or 50s) about a woman who keeps her daughter inside the house with the windows covered during the day and even has birthday parties for her at night because she has told the daughter that she has some illness that does not allow her to be in the sun. A man comes to the house for some reason and becomes a friend of the mother and daughter. Some things seem not to be quite right and towards the end of the movie he finds out that the mother has been lying to the daughter -- she does not have an illness that prevents her from going outside in the sun. When the mother is confronted she admits that she lied to the daughter because she never wanted the daughter to leave her.
