omg. thank you! thank you! thank you! i think that is it. i have been describing that movie to people for years trying to figure it out. you are, simply, the best.

i saw this movie on tcm a couple of years ago, and do not remember much. it was an older movie-- black and white-- maybe 50s-ish. and, it had a young male (30s-ish) character that was being accused of a crime. i want to say it was murder, attempted murder, or assault (i cannot remember of whom). i believe he had a wife-- and the wife had something to do with the crime/conspiracy/problem. while trying to clear his name, he hid in a cave and was helped by some of the town's children . the children came daily to help him, and created diversions when he needed to sneak from the cave to the house to search for some kind of evidence to help him. eventually, i think that the adults in the town found out where he was hiding (as they were searching for him) when one of the children accidentally said something a party (or gathering of some kind) at one of their houses. at that point, i think that a woman then tried help him. for some reason, i also think that there was something to do with a little girl and a bracelet-- and possibly some recorded tapes. i am not absolutely sure of these last two clues, but i am confident. any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.
