[Favorite Ted Healy Film]

Hey all I am a huge Ted Healy fan and have all his movies he was in including his solo films and Stooge shorts (except "Hello Pop!" a lost Ted Healy & Stooges short). I was just wondering if anyone else found him funny in his films he made after the Stooges left him (I know many people hate him because of the way he treated the Stooges) but have you ever seen his later films he starred with some big names at MGM, Warner & Fox. I don't hold grudges with people and let the past rest. But I must say my favorite Ted Healy film would be..........

 

"It's In The Air" with Jack Benny (who took over as king of the one liners from Ted Healy). Ohter actors Ted worked with were

 

Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, Robert Montgomery, Jack Benny, Jimmy Stewart, Eddie Foy Jr., Dick Powell, Zazu Pitts, Edna May Oliver, Jimmy Durante, Franchot Tone, Mickey Rooney, Rosemary Lane , Rosalind Russell, Jean Harlow, William Powell, May Robson, Nat Pendleton, ect.

 

Another Gem of his I enjoyed was "Speed" with Jimmy Stewart ted plays Gadget Jimmy's sidekick and Ted even has a Dramatic scene (which he wasn't known for) in this film.

 

He was most of the time paired with Nat Pendleton (who always played off each others antics) and would have made a great duo team.

 

Too bad his life was cut short at age 41 just as MGM was gearing him up to become a leading man he has to go and get drunk celebrating the birth of his son and pick a fight with Wallace Beery and two mobsters who had it in for him.

 

At least I can watch his film and laugh even if he was hated. I'd like to hear from any other Ted Healy fans who like and don't. I met his son at one of the Stooge conventions and he wasn't getting too much attention.
