Off-topic, yes, but how do you know a restaurant is clean, especially the kitchen?
Talking to a local health inspector, she said a restaurant will always be just as clean -- or dirty -- as the front door.
"People always think the restrooms are a 'tell' and they are, but by the time you check the bathrooms, it's too late...you're trapped."
If the front door of the restaurant is dirty and broken, do not eat there; the kitchen will also be filthy. That's what health inspectors understand.

I do wish he would confirm this fact. He is the one who stated MGM's research dept. concluded male movie-goers said they couldn't see themselves "making love to Jeanette MacDonald"

Talking to a REAL federal cop about "The Godfather" and all the things I hate/love about it. Asked him about the scene where Michael clips the heroin kingpin and Sterling Hayden.
"You understand, that was pretty realistic," he stated. "There's a reason for a restaurant hit."
I asked him to elucidate.
"At the very moment a waiter places the main dish in front of the eater, all the victim's senses are focused on that plate," he said. "The eater is absolutely defenseless. Try it on yourself next time you eat in a restaurant."
"Barber chair is good for that, too."

But the other: Patricia Neal has a favorite lamp at home with FISH SWIMMING in the bottom globe!

I, for one, don't think so, but many cinephiles will say just that.
Maybe because I'm so used to him as HR, and his style is the epitome of wooden, but I liked Coop in this quirky gem.
Major plot hole: that a newspaper could get an entire metropolis worked up into a lather over the look of a privately-financed building!
Maybe it's the Ayn Rand fans who are the loudest in their criticism of the star.

You are right, no doubt.
I was going to say that in my original post; that trilling, falsetto, operatic style of singing makes her unsexy. After all, not many opera singers are sex symbols.
If MacDonald sang in a husky, dusky voice (Bacall?) she would have registered differently with males.
She looked earthy in "Girl of the Golden West." But when she did her thing in "San Francisco" singing song of same, the performance was painful to watch.

Both gambling movies, same room used.
Interestingly, the "casino" in Gable's movie was dimly lit throughout; in Peck's film, lights were turned way up.

It was a RO prologue leading in to one of her films...that's the only reason I remember the story.
There MUST be a way to ACTUALLY have Osborne confirm this.
She is pretty, talented, professional and all else, but there is something about her lacking in that department.
RO must monitor this site in some fashion; how about it?

Kind of don't like stuff like this, BUT it is true.
MGM researched audience reaction to all their talent, and the report on her was: men overwhelmingly said they couldn't imagine making love to her.
Maybe it was...who knows? But I can understand it. She just doesn't seem like bedroom material. She's beautiful, but maybe "untouchable."

I understand during the era of "Cleopatra" and "Ben Hur" epics a major part of the budgets covered the immediate tear-down of such sets, because rogue filmmakers were waiting to film their movies on them the very moment the big guys would wrap.
