#2.*Slightly Dangerous* (lavenderblue)
#3.*Latin Lovers* (lavenderblue)
#4 *Bachelor in Paradise* (finance)
Finance got Lana, which started the ball rolling, but lavenderblue got most of the films. I tend to think it's finance's thread, though. I'll let you two decide. -
Finance got it! It is Lana Turner. But 2 is wrong. This is where we are, with more information..

I don't fit in in new surroundings. I was invited by someone who had too much to drink, but I get there and find I wasn't expected, because they had forgotten all about it.

l quit my job and left my hometown, fed up with my humdrum life, heading for New York City and leaving behind a note.

I listened to some sound advice and took the initiative to get the ball roling in the matter of love. I left America, with a goal in mind.. But nothing happens like we plan it.
#4 *Bachelor in Paradise*

Originally, this classic horror film had a different ending slightly. But this character actor gave the director an alternative way to play the last scene, "Maybe I should look like I expected this, instead of being surprised!" he offered. The director said to try it both ways. The final result reflects the actor's idea after all. Afterwards the director mentioned that no other actor could have pulled off that last scene like this actor did. Name the actor and film.

Alice Brady?

Another and last hint, from a 1939 classic film being shown this month, she and her leading man couldn't stand each other, but you wouldn't know it watching the film based on a classic novel.
Name the actress (who is the answer to the previous post) and the film.

I remember liking it a lot. I'll have one soon.

Another guess - Marlene Dietrich?

*Ask Any Girl*

*Frances*

Can you give some more info? I can't come up with a good educated guess, but if you need a guess for more info, is it Mary Astor?
-
The hint I was going to add was that the actress was the subject of a tv miniseries, which was made I believe in the early 1980s.

Jack Albertson was in *The Subject Was Roses* with Patricia Neal.
