  1. {font:Calibri}"I was born in Indiana and made my film debut in a silent feature in 1914. Though I made several silent films, my most famous role was in a talking picture. I made two talking pictures for a very talented young man, whose ambition and dedication for his craft was met with obstacles at every turn. My three daughters took after me, their father, and went into the acting business also, and two of them made a big name for themselves. Do you know me?"{font}

  2. {font:Times New Roman}The ending was originally to have Lana commit suicide, I believe, but a preview audience didn’t like the ending and the filmmakers tried to make the most of a bad thing and came up with the ending you see now. As a Lana fan, I like the film, but I do admit she made better, and while having it on in the background and doing other things, I even felt she might have been in over her head and basically walking through some of the scenes. Most critics agree the best thing about the film is Ann Dvorak, in one of the best scene-stealing performances on film.{font}
