  1. Hi Everyone, I am hoping to put together a library of classic (1900-1970) animation, including theatrical release shorts & features & TV animation as well. What I need are recomendations from you about what is available in high quality on dvd. As an example I have recently found the Thunderbean website and their collections of titles such as "The complete Cubby the Bear" looks very promising. Has anyone viewed these discs and how do they look? Any feedback on what is available and what you consider essential would be greatly appreciated!
  2. I am desperately looking for a copy of Gold Fever (1952?) starring John Calvert! John needs a copy for his personal archive. Any suggestions?
  3. I have pondered this question quite a bit, "Should I be buying Warner Archive and other studio DVRs?" Needless to say I have REAL mixed feelings on this! How long do burnt discs last? Am I decreasing the chances of seeing actual pressed releases of these movies by supporting the Archive model? The price point seems much too high! Can't I simply record my own DVRs from TCM and have the same basic quality? I hope many of you will respond to this post and help me weigh the pros & cons of this new approach to classic movie retailing and if I should jump on board! Thanks
  4. Hi Everyone, My apologies to the administrator if this is not allowed on the TCM forum but this is my first post as a member. I recently had the real pleasure of meeting the Actor/Magician John Calvert who was in over 40 films during the 1940s & 50s and at 100 years old is still going strong. He mentioned to me that he did not have a copy of the movie Gold Fever (1952?) that he starred in. I have checked all of the outlets that I know to locate a copy for Mr. Calvert's archive and I thought I would appeal to the vast knowledge of the TCM fans to find out how can I find this movie! I thought it was the least I could do for a classic film actor and I'm sure that all of you agee! -Thanks
