  1. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I've registered and anytime I try to click one of the tabs on CFU site, they tell me I am unauthorized. Even though I am still signed in. What the heck.
  2. Brando/Kazan. If you look at Marlon Brando after that, he was never the same. Same with Kazan. Their partnership is the definition of bringing out the best in each other.
  3. Some teenagers have good taste in film, thank you very much. I, for one, would not be caught dead watching the MTV awards. Secondly, for those who keep saying that they haven't seen a film that deserved to be nominated yet this year, that's because it's July. Spring is known for the time when all the studios release their awful movies, and summer is for the huge blockbusters that are only there to make money. Any nominees would be released much later in the year. Also, unlike pretty much everyone else, I think this is a good thing. This will give so much more attention to comedies, foreign fil
  4. Wow these stories are all great. TikiSoo, that group sounds awesome, and what a cool place to grow up!
  5. I do think that TCM should play a wide variety of movies, but as far as the need to play more obscure ones for the people who have been watching for years, you're forgetting about 15 year olds like me who have only been watching for 2 years and still need to see a considerable amount of the major classics. I may be able to rent Citizen Kane or Casablanca, but guess what? TCM is pretty much free, and that's the best part.
  6. I agree, some say that there are no good movies being made today, but I strongly disagree. I also think that if you are a true lover of all film, then you would be interested in every decade or era. I was just curious as to how people got into old movies particularly.
  7. Clementine Kruczynski in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Terry Malloy in On the Waterfront TR Devlin in Notorious Jim Stark in Rebel Without A Cause April Wheeler in Revolutionary Road Susan Vance in Bringing Up Baby Johnny Case in Holiday Slim in To Have and Have Not Joe Clay in Days of Wine and Roses Joey Evans in Pal Joey
  8. Sorry if I annoyed anyone by making this long I love lists. I ended up choosing more than one for a couple and therefore defeated the entire purpose. 20s ?? I haven't seen enough movies from the decade to choose. And I don't want to pretend like I know more about films than I actually do. 30s Holiday I watched this for the first time a month or two ago when it came on TCM and fell in love. I thought it had such depth and meaning and I loved what it said about wealth and happiness. 40s Notorious Unbelievably sexy, mysterious, and with incredible chemistry between the two main
  9. I'm really curious about this. Was there a specific movie? Did you just grow up watching them because of your parents? I had to do a biography in school and ended up doing Audrey Hepburn at the suggestion of someone who has just seen Breakfast at Tiffany's. After the project, I watched it and was mesmerized. Then I watched Charade, which got me into Cary Grant, and it just branches off from there. What's your story?
  10. You Can't Take it With You Bringing Up Baby Holiday The Awful Truth ( Can you tell I like Cary Grant?) Only Angels Have Wings Ninotchka Duck Soup It Happened One Night City Lights Grand Hotel Baby Face

  12. What are some of your favorite movies made in the 1940s? Some of mine include Rebecca My Favorite Wife His Girl Friday Notorious Spellbound Notorious Citizen Kane On the Town Gentlemens Agreement The Shop Around the Corner And more!
  13. I'm the only one I know who has seen Holiday! It's so perfect, and Hepburn and Grant are fantastic in it. It also has a really great message I think.
  14. Also, is anyone else a major fan of Frank Sinatra movies? Man With the Golden Arm, The Manchurian Candidate, From Here to Eternity, Pal Joey, and On The Town?! He's awesome.
