  1. I throughly enjoy Ben Mankiewicz, he is a critic and not an industry shrill. He loves classic movies and he is giving us food for thought...

I have never detected any kind of "political leaning" in his comments.

  2. The Best Years of Our Lives is certainly one of the greatest films made because it captured the essence of post-WWII USA.

One of my favorite lines is from Casablanca:

Inspector: Why did you come to Casablanca Rick?

    Rick: For the water.

Inspector: There's no water here. This is a desert.

    Rick: I was misinformed.

  3. Sorry I am so long getting back.

First, I like "Framed" because it provides a well written story, the plot is plausible. "This could happen to anyone" is applicable.

Second, the film's lighting and set are superb - you get the gritty, edgy feeling of people coping with their desire to "get their piece of the pie."

Third, the casting is excellent: In addition to Ford, Edgar Buchanan does a wonderful job of portraying a hapless, but decent person. Janis Carter does a wonderful job as Paula Craig.

Finally, (this is a plot device again) the failing brakes on the truck provide a great foreshadow if how events are soon to spiral out of control.

Again, my apologies for not responding sooner.
