In respect for KW vets please correct your web site...thanks!

I would agree except that I would include movies up to 1969 but not past that year.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the wonderful insights on a documentary on the silver screen!
-
I really have enjoyed the many comments about a Dean Martin film festival on TCM. So many of you have echoed my belief that Dean Martin was an incredible talent.
-
What a grand time that would be! Well, at least I think so...
OK TCM friends... suggestions?
-
It's time for Ken Burns to cover the movies and of course Robert Osborn could be a key commentator using the Oscars as the focal point...
OK TCM friends... what say ye?
-
I totslly agree! Dean was so good he made it look easy..like all the great ones always do.
-
It's time!!!!

Caine Mutiny (in my opinion) is his best role. You will enjoy it when you see it!
-
I throughly enjoy Ben Mankiewicz, he is a critic and not an industry shrill. He loves classic movies and he is giving us food for thought...
I have never detected any kind of "political leaning" in his comments.

"I came to Casablanca for the water."
"But Rick there is no water here. Casablanca is in a desert."
"I was misinformed."
-
BTW.. if you haven't read the bios of Powell and Loy (especially Loy) you have missed a treat! One more tip: check out grooveshark.com. It has free music (it is legal) and you can get great selections of music from the 30s and 40s.

This a belated happy New Year to all of you. Seeing RO in his tux and watching Nick and Nora just confirms that real class will never go out of style.
Thanks to TCM for a wonderful way to start a new year and decade!
-
I haven't tried it but I did see an article about this at NYT Online Technology section. I wish TCM had a chat function so we could all watch a movies and interact.
-
Limited to only one I would choose "My Man Godfrey." I think it is VERY relevant to 2010 USA.
-
Sandlot is a great choice! All of these comments are getting me anxious to fire up the DVD.
TCM - baseball movie weekend...please!
-
Thank you so much for listing Fear Strikes Out. The Jimmy Piersall story is indeed inspirational.
What a great story! Any more Yankee stories? I am a Yankee fan to the max.
-
Bad News Bears is an exceptional movie, not given its due as a "serious film." You made some great choices!
-
The Best Years of Our Lives is certainly one of the greatest films made because it captured the essence of post-WWII USA.
One of my favorite lines is from Casablanca:
Inspector: Why did you come to Casablanca Rick?
Rick: For the water.
Inspector: There's no water here. This is a desert.
Rick: I was misinformed.
-
BTW.. The Stratton Story is worthy to be at the top of any list. Thanks!
-
Yes Angeles in the Outfield is a wonderful movie. I have seen it once and thoroughly enjoyed it. Paul Douglas and Donna Corcoran were indeed superb. Thanks!
-
Great choices! I especially enjoyed Wm Benidx as The babe. I have never seen Rhubarb so it is now on my "must see" list!

Sorry I am so long getting back.
First, I like "Framed" because it provides a well written story, the plot is plausible. "This could happen to anyone" is applicable.
Second, the film's lighting and set are superb - you get the gritty, edgy feeling of people coping with their desire to "get their piece of the pie."
Third, the casting is excellent: In addition to Ford, Edgar Buchanan does a wonderful job of portraying a hapless, but decent person. Janis Carter does a wonderful job as Paula Craig.
Finally, (this is a plot device again) the failing brakes on the truck provide a great foreshadow if how events are soon to spiral out of control.
Again, my apologies for not responding sooner.
