  1. I like that music that plays during the Olivia de Havilland promo, particularly the violin music that plays in the scene where she is protecting the baby in the "Gone with the Wind" clip. I realize it is probably an obscure piece of music, but does anyone recognize it?
  2. I recently watched "The Mighty," parts of which were filmed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1998. At the beginning of the movie, there is a scene where kids enter the back door of a bus without paying the fare. The bus driver shakes his head in disgust. I think the bus driver looks like former House Speaker John Boehner. The bus driver is not credited in the movie. Does anyone know if John Boehner had a cameo role in this movie? Thanks!
  3. Can someone tell me what the name of the song is (or who the singer is) which is used as background music for the current "movies in December" promotion--the clips that show best girlfriends, couples kissing, and a clip with Astaire and Rogers? Also, who was the singer whose song with the lyrics "I don't want to go out, but I don't want to stay home" was used for promotional clips this summer? Thanks for any information.
  4. I had no idea that the slogan "Let's movie!" had been a topic of discussion previously! Thank you for letting me know.
  5. How does everyone feel about the new slogan "Let's movie!" I don't like it at all--it sounds silly.
  6. About four years ago, I saw a film on TCM that was shown late at night, perhaps part of the Underground series. It was a Japanese film. Five school girls (about age 14) traveled to this house or cottage some distance away to visit an elderly lady (maybe an aunt?) that lived there. I vaguely remember them waiting for a bus or shopping in an outdoor market before traveling. Once in the house, strange things started to happen. I think the girls kept disappearing. I remember haunting music or sound effects and the elderly woman revealing something about herself at the end. Does any of this
  7. I watched "Born to be Bad" this morning on TCM. I don't know if I dozed off...as the movie was ending, I saw Joan Fontaine load up her car with furs after being given one week by Zachary Scott to vacate their house. She was asked to return the key. The final scene shows the artist changing the price on her portrait, which is displayed in a gallery window, from $250 to $500. Both the TCM synopsis and Wikipedia synopsis have Joan's character getting into a car accident, starting up a romance with the surgeon, etc. I DO NOT RECALL SEEING ANY OF THIS! Did I fall asleep at the end of the m
  8. The last time I saw the end of the year tribute to people in movies who had died in 2012 was probably on New Year's Eve. I was surprised that the film footage had not been edited to include Jack Klugman and Charles Durning. I would think it would be easy to add them to the end or take out some of the shots of the old drive in and put in their photos and names. Does anyone know why they were not included? Is the tribute that difficult to edit once it is made? I vaguely remember that Van Johnson died near the end of December a few years ago and he was added to that year's tribute.
  9. Maybe I missed an updated version, but in the end-of-the-year tribute to people in movies who passed away in 2012, I saw nothing about Jack Klugman or Charles Durning. Would it be difficult to edit the tribute and add these two great actors? It seems that they could have been added in place of some of the footage of the old drive-in or maybe at the end. Was there an updated version? The last one I saw was on December 31.
  10. Thank you for the movie title--that sure sounds like it could be the movie! I looked up a detailed synopsis online.
  11. I saw a movie years ago. I do not remember much about it. It might have starred a young Katharine Hepburn. I remember she was taking care of an aging father who might have had mental problems. She was going to take care of him forever or maybe not marry because she thought her kids might have mental issues. (I know this sounds like an unusual subject for a film in that era.) I remember a closing scene where she is hugging him and saying she will stay with him. Did I dream this? I read the synopsis for Alice Adams but I do not believe that is the film.
  12. Thank you for the GREAT suggestion about searching You Tube for "TCM Remembers." I never thought of that. Many, many people commented on the beautiful, touching music (in the comments section) and asked what it was. There were quite a few responses indicating that it was written specifically for TCM and is not available. I will assume that this is true. At least I can listen to it whenever I want to now by going to You Tube. Thanks again! It is beautiful, haunting music and goes so well with the opening imagery.
  13. I posted this question some time ago and no one knew the answer. I thought I would try again. I would like to know what the name and/or source of the music is that TCM plays for their memorial tributes when someone has passed away. The imagery starts with windshield wipers going back and forth and everything is in a sepia tone. Then they show clips from the deceased person's films. The entire clip lasts maybe 30 seconds. I contacted TCM but got no response. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
  14. Does anyone know if the movie "The Life of Vergie Winters" starring Ann Harding is available on DVD? (Or even VHS?) I know I saw this great movie many years ago on TCM, but they have never shown it since. If anyone has any leads on where to find this movie to buy, I would appreciate the information.
  15. I did e-mail TCM and never got a reply. That is why I thought I would try the message board. I think I will send TCM a USPS letter and inquire about the music. Thanks for the suggestion.
