  1. The best Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. film that has not been seen on any cable station in the U.S. is still unavailable for whatever reason.I am talking about STATE SECRET ,aka THE GREAT MANHUNT, produced in England in 1950. A very Hitchcock like film with Glynis Johns.
  2. August,2015 will be the first time in 18 years that there will be nothing new to record off of TCM.
  3. No problem,TopBilled ! Nothing really earth shaking on the schedule. One excellent premiere however for those who didn't see it on the Fox Movie Channel. Don't miss THIEVES' HIGHWAY with Richard Conte and Lee J. Cobb. RATON PASS with Patricia Neal is a premiere, but it is not worthy of her. I bought this "stinker" about a year ago at the Warner Archive.
  4. Sorry everyone. It was right in front of my 73 year old eyes.
  5. Yes, where is the link to the schedule. Topbilled or anyone please help.
  6. CEILING ZERO was on VHS ages ago. WHITE BANNERS and FROM THIS DAY FORWARD never on VHS or DVD. FROM THIS DAY FORWARD played a number of times on the old AMC. Remember Bob Dorian ?
  7. I would like to see TCM work out the rights issues with films like CEILING ZERO, WHITE BANNERS and FROM THIS DAY FORWARD. I know FROM THIS DAY FORWARD is available on youtube, but that is not the place where I want to see it. I also like a month that features many TCM premieres.
  8. Well except for the Monday part , I hope you won't have to post this message again next Friday.
  9. A restored print was presented at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival in 2007. TCM has showed other films from the George Eastman House in the past [ THE VALIANT]. We need to press TCM to get BEGGARS OF LIFE shown.
  10. Yes,there is ! It's supposed to be in the Eastman House in Rochester, N.Y.
  11. There's got to be something very special for us. Making us wait already for 3 weeks into this month. Perhaps they found THE MONKEY'S PAW or CONVENTION CITY. How about CHRISTOPHER BEAN or BEGGARS OF LIFE from the Eastman House ? It's nice to dream.
  12. If TCM is going to do a tribute to Claude Rains, here are 3 TCM premiere showings: CRIME WITHOUT PASSION THE MAN WHO RECLAIMED HIS HEAD WHITE BANNERS At least give us one please. Not the same movies over and over again.
  13. I'm not sure if TCM has ever shown WHITE BANNERS with Claude Rains. I just know that since getting TCM on cable in the late'90's I have never seen it. I hope that whenever they do a Claude Rains tribute again it will be on the schedule.
  14. No problem,TomJH. I just took my bow.
  15. I loved this restored print in its original aspect ratio. Olivia de Havilland was the perfect choice for the ranch woman, strong yet warm. It was great to see this lady who usually plays women of higher breeding play a frontier woman. Director Michael Curtiz reunited with her after many years had come and gone from their Warner Brothers days. Thanks TCM for remembering this film.
  16. Just to let purists know. The widescreen indicia is back up there on the schedule.
  17. I have been looking forward to seeing this film for a long time. I know the public domain copy is available all over the place, but I want the film as shown in the theaters back in 1958. A few days ago on the schedule there was a widescreen logo displayed; now it has been removed. Are we going to get the original aspect ratio as shown in theaters or a down sized version ?
  18. Old movie trailers NOT filling up the entire screen. Surely, they're not worried about us recording them or are they ?
  19. What keeps Shirley Temple's KISS AND TELL made at Columbia and released in1945 from appearing on the TCM schrdule ?
  20. I definitely agree with you about a better budget and Technicolor. Most films that take place in Mexico should be done in Technicolor with the exceptions being LOS OLVIDADOS and TOUCH OF EVIL. I do think that Mel Ferrer was perfect for the role. Anyway, I am certainly glad I finally got to see it. Thank you,Sony and TCM. Now, if you could only do THIS THING CALLED LOVE and DEATH OF A SALESMAN.
  21. Amazing that only TopBilled and myself have anything to say about this film. I guess it bombed at the box office in 1951 and 64 years later it does the same on TCM. I saw the film last night and it deserved a much better fate.
