  1. Maybe not exactly classics, but definitely unseen. THE WHITE PARADE [1933] Fox Films BEGGARS OF LIFE [1928] Paramount REMAINS TO BE SEEN [1953] MGM CHRISTOPHER BEAN [1933] MGM THIS THING CALLED LOVE [1941] Columbia
  2. This really irks me to say it mildly. The one to blame is COMCAST. They own Universal and the pre-48 Paramount library. I would like to do something more than **** about it. But what?
  3. Finally a movie I had suggested years ago is getting a play on TCM. Defintely one I will not miss. I hope you won't either.
  4. TCM said she is a British actress. She is an American actress whose ancestors came from England. Yes, she played parts that were identified as English, but she is not an English actress. She made her mark in American movies not English movies. Case closed.
  5. I would forgive them if they could clear up the legalities that keeps them from showing FROM THIS DAY FORWARD made at RKO in 1946. I love that movie and Joan Fontaine is gorgeous in it.
  6. They obviously don't know their derriere from their elbow.
  7. That's what is posted right now at the TCM website.
  8. Getting a Paramount or Universal film that has not played on TCM for many years is a very rare occurance. Similar to a solar eclipse.
  9. Once again a rare movie I had been looking forward to seeing has been removed from the TCM schedule. ESCAPE [1948]. A bummer !
  10. Cagney was the GREATEST ! Gangster film or not. My favorite gangster film is WHITE HEAT.My favorite Bogart gangster film is HIGH SIERRA. My favorite Robinson gangster film is KEY LARGO where Bogart was the good guy and topbilled. Let's not forget Paul Muni's terrific performance in a classic movie,SCARFACE. To me SCARFACE is the best of these three: LITTLE CAESAR, PUBLIC ENEMY and SCARFACE.
  11. Since Comcast is now the owner of Universal Pictures and therefore has control of the old Universal and pre'48 Paramount features, why don't they start their own movie channel or showcase these films on their Xfinity service. They could even charge us $2.99 per view. Surely there is a ton of films to view. Fox has their own movie channel. Any feedback would be welcome.
  12. I heard there is going to be a remake of IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT with an all female cast. They want Paula for the Larry Gates role.
  13. Here's an amusing thought not to be taken seriously. Perhaps, calvinme, they think of you as the Eric Snowden of TCM. Your service to us fans is wonderful. You do not put our country in any danger by what you are divulging. I hope they will allow you to continue your service to us. Asylum not necessary.
  14. Yes, but they are ruining the fun and excitement we have every month.
  15. Hasn't anyone noticed a very rare film to be shown on August 31 as part of the Rex Harrison tribute day: ESCAPE [1948] directed by Joseph Mankiewicz ? I don't recall this movie ever being shown on television; cable or not.
  16. Yes,indeed ! A totally miscast Gregory Peck.
  17. There are only two things I liked about this film: The cinematography The "grandiose" score by Dimitri Tiomkin which a number of music labels are afraid to re-record due to a feeling that today's listeners wouldn't be interested in purchasing. Knowing the mediocrity or "noise" of what today's listeners prefer, perhaps they are right.
  18. Good idea , Fred. I might get a reply. Can't hurt. Would you know of a good address? Thanks for any help.
  19. Thanks, vallo13. He would know if the Joe Palooka Monogram films are in the Warner Archive. The only problem is he may not see these posts or may choose not to reply.
  20. Inquiring to know if George Feltenstein is the head of the Warner Archive ?
  21. BULLDOG DRUMMOND STRIKES BACK [1934] with Ronald Colman, Loretta Young, Charles Butterworth, Warner Oland and C.Aubrey Smith. I have seen it.
  22. Rita Hayworth definitely ! I prefer Rita Hayworth as she appeared in COVER GIRL. There she is more like the " the girl next door" type rather than the sexpot in GILDA. I like my woman to be beautiful without being complicated.
  23. Where is THE GREAT JOHN L made in 1945 with Greg McClure, Linda Darnell, and Barbara Britton. Produced by Bing Crosby Productions and released by United Artists. Not on cable, DVD or VHS.
