Pushed back 5 and a half hours from Now Playing Guide for October. See new on-line schedule for Oct.9.

Topbiilled, allow me to mention a film I haven't seen in over 30 years. I am sure you must be familiar with it. A British production from1950; very Hitchcock-like : STATE SECRET with Douglas Fairbanks,jr.,Glynis Johns, Jack Hawkins and Herbert Lom.

The vast majority of the December schedule

They are still holding back on all their pre-48 Paramounts and Universal's they haven't shown before.Evidently when they licensed these films their plan was to sell them to us and not show them on TCM. Yes, that is very annoying to me. I am sure a lot of movie fans just don't have the money in this economy to spend on DVD's. -
Barbara Stanwyck is December Star of the Month

Yes, because of Wallace Beery also. I hope TCM will eventually show THE MIGHTY BARNUM and the very, very, very rare BEGGARS OF LIFE. The last one especially for Louise Brooks. -

Here's one that's rarely seen: THE OTHER LOVE from 1947. Showing on Dec.5 . -
Really enjoyed HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT. I wonder if the poor box office results influenced Mr. Caan in not directing another film. A shame if it had.

Misswonderly, you are so right on. Your description of this man is perfect.

Take it from Cody ! He's the greatest. Top of the world,Ma .

Big time actors you don't really care for?
cody1949 replied to Lazyking's topic in General Discussions
I'll take all of the actors listed below anyday over Johnny Depp. -
Please forgive me if this film has been mentioned previously. I am talking [writing] about SO ENDS OUR NIGHT with Fredric March, Margaret Sullavan,Frances Dee, Glenn Ford and Erich von Stroheim among others. A powerful movie from 1941 showing the Nazi menace to free peoples. At one time this film was available on DVD, but I don't think it has ever been shown on TCM.

By the way, RUTHLESS is planned for a near future DVD release courtesy of Olive Films.
-
I would love to see BLIND SPOT. This is a film he did at Columbia in 1947. It has a good review by Leonard Maltin.
-
THE ADVENTURES OF SMILIN' JACK would be a real reel treat.
-
If these titles have been mentioned before please forgive the repetition. THE APPRENTICESHIP OF DUDDY KRAVITZ , THE MACOMBER AFFAIR , CEILING ZERO , COME FILL THE CUP , FROM THIS DAY FORWARD , and WHITE BANNERS.
-
This movie isn't really missing in action. It's just that I would like to see a non-public domain presentation in it's original theatrical aspect ratio. The movie is THE PROUD REBEL with Alan Ladd , Olivia de Havilland, and David Ladd. This is one of Alan Ladd's better films of the late '50's.

Isn't KISS THE BLOOD OFF MY HANDS a Universal release?
-
It was made by Darryl Zanuck for Twentieth Century Pictures and released by UA. This is before he merged with Fox Film.
-
I think the rights problem with BULLDOG DRUMMOND STRIKES BACK may have something to do with Columbia Pictures making a film with the same title in the late '40's. The 1934 original is a total gem. Charles Butterworth as Colman's assistant is a howl.

Like I have mentioned in other threads, it seems TCM would rather sell you the old Paramount and Universal films than have you watch them on cable. I think the last premiere of a Universal film on TCM was HOUSE OF THE SEVEN GABLES about five months ago. WELLS FARGO from Paramount appeared at the end of May. When is TCM going to show THE LAST OUTPOST with Cary GRANT,DISHONORED with Marlene Dietrich ? They probably won't. They want you to buy them. The same thing will happen with SOULS AT SEA and MILLION DOLLAR LEGS.
-
Despite not to kind reviews I would love to see NO MINOR VICES. I've always had a crush on Lilli Palmer. What happened to this film?
-
Just noticed the other day that SLEEP MY LOVE will be coming out on DVD sometime in the near future courtesy of Olive Films. It seems that this UA release came under the control of Republic Pictures, then Paramount who now has a deal with Olive Films. Check www.classicflix for more Republic titles .
-
According to Leonard Maltin, Disney now has control of the Thomas Mitchell 1940 version. It would be great if they would lease this to TCM or bring it out on DVD.
-
That's fine Audreyforever as long as there is a number of TCM premieres in the group.
