  1. Yes, and we finally got a Paramount premere of an old Joel McCrea movie and it seems to be restored to its original running time. MAY 30 - WELLS FARGO. Now don't make any last minute changes TCM.Thank you very much.
  2. Not only over-hyped . Over-rated also. Good movie but not one that deserves a best picture award. The technique was original for this day and age, but the story has been done before.
  3. Very sad to hear. From the pinnacle of success to the depths of despair.
  4. With the possible exception of MUSTANG COUNTRY, the westerns in the forthcoming Joel McCrea box set were made in the era before the widescreen.
  5. Hoping for a complete WELLS FARGO from Paramount with wife, Frances Dee, produced in 1937. I'll take the edited version if necessary. Just show it please.
  6. Yes indeed. And please show the rarely seen FROM THIS DAY FORWARD and IVY. FROM THIS DAY FORWARD is my favorite Joan Fontaine movie. What's keeping this RKO movie off of TCM? It was on AMC years ago. Never on VHS or DVD either.
  7. Lane Bradford, son of John Merton. Both played "bad guys" in hundreds of B westerns.
  8. Check out the IMDB website. There should be quite a list of movies he appeared in; including TV.
  9. FLASH GORDON was really the first sci-fi attempt to deal with interplanetary adventures. Forget about A TRIP TO THE MOON. It wasn't until 1950, 14 years later, that this kind of movie became a staple in Hollywood. I am referring to ROCKETSHIP-XM, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD,etc.
  10. FLASH GORDON ! Hands down. Followed by FLASH GORDON'S TRIP TO MARS and FLASH GORDON CONQUERS THE UNIVERSE.
  11. Of course I do. Starred in a few grade B westerns in the early 30'S. Then went on to small roles in all kinds of films from serials, B-westerns, and walk-on roles in major productions.
  12. Some really good movies are in limbo. Let's hope that will change. THE SUSPECT with Charles Laughton , THE WEB with Edmond O'Brien , CORVETTE -225 with Randolph Scott. All three co-starred Ella Raines. Another favorite not seen in a long time; RIDE THE PINK HORSE with Robert Montgomery, Thomas Gomez and a very cute Wanda Hendrix. Sorry, I forgot the K in Corvette K-225.

  14. I know it can be seen in it's entirety on youtube, but has WHITE BANNERS with Claude Rains ever been shown on TCM? Please advise. Thanks.
  15. I just checked the VCI website. I don't see it there.
  16. How about 2 excellent Canadian productions; not even availablle on DVD I believe: THE APPRENTICESHIP OF DUDDY KRAVITZ with Richard Dreyfuss and NOBODY WAVED GOODBYE with Peter Kastner.
  17. How about SO ENDS OUR NIGHT with Fredric March and Margaret Sullavan, MISTER MOSES with Robert Mitchum and Caroll Baker, THE MACOMBER AFFAIR with Gregory Peck and Joan Bennett?
  18. How about one they never show? STORM WARNING from 1951 with Doris, Ronald Reagan, and Ginger Rogers.
  19. My favorite sci-fi movie of all time. The last 15 minutes or so is so full of emotion to me. John Williams score and the visuals just break me up. I DON'T mean laughter; just the opposite.
  20. Thelma, I totally agree with you. I would prefer THE VALIANT any day compared to the junk that piles up big bucks at the box office today. I am not talking about excellent films like HUGO and THE DESCENDANTS.
  21. In a response to the naysayers, let me thank Eastman House for allowing TCM to screen THE VALIANT. It is a very important part of film history.
  22. Yes, what a terrific day. Call me greedy, whatever. I would love to see an Eastman House month. I would love to see the Fox Films they have; especially the 90% of Spencer Tracy films that have not played cable or available on DVD.
  23. Great to see Robert Newton in a non-period piece. A great role that took place in the 20th century. Nobody walked the plank. I enjoyed this movie very much.
