  1. Nevermind,it's nice to see something different for a change. This will remind me of a fun childhood when I sat in front of the TV with a cap pistol. Or would you want to see North By Northwest or Mildred Pierce for the umpteenth time again?
  2. Of course Jackie Cooper deserves a tribute. I am just taking note of a strange coincident. A previous time RIFFRAFF was scheduled to be seen it was cancelled for a RIP tribute and now again on May13. How about putting this movie on On-Demand for a few weeks? If not, beware screen legends if you see RIFFRAFF scheduled again on TCM it may be your turn.
  3. One thing I know he doesn't need is water from the "fountain of youth". He has already found it.
  4. This movie was unfortunately removed from the July 31 schedule.
  5. This is good news to me. I have always wanted to see this movie. Will this movie get a DVD release at TCM like the other Walter Wanger films HOUSE ACROSS THE BAY and SUNDOWN? TRADE WINDS is a movie that should get a DVD release. I hope this will happen.
  6. Yes,it is good to see Buck Rogers on the schedule, but what is more disappointing is to see TCM drop its plans to air Ace Drummond.
  7. How did you get the information for RAINBOW ISLAND on July 31 ? My schedule for the month of July only scrolls down as far as July 30.
  8. I have wanted TCM to show this movie for a long time. What is holding this up? Were the rights sold off for the 1980 remake? Or could the problem be in the washed out technicolor print that has been circulating for ages among collectors? Are there no decent prints of this film. If this is the case. Wouldn't it be great to have this movie restored to its original visual brilliance. By the way, I have always had a special place in my heart for Jean Simmons.
  9. There is still one Crime Doctor film they have not shown, SHADOWS IN THE NIGHT. Why ? Also, whatever happened to THE THIRTEENTH HOUR , the last film in the Whistler series ?
  10. When you think about the actors and actresses of the past there was something about them that made them distinctive. They were subjects of parody by people like Frank Gorshin or Rich Little. In short, I cannot understand the popularity of a Johnny Depp or the less popular Ben Affleck who thankfully has gone into directing. I do like Russell Crowe ,Matt Damon, and Denzel Washington. These inane comedies that flood the market these days I abhor and unfortunately it rubs off on those actors and actresses who appear in them to their detriment.Well, whether you agree or disagree with me, I have had my say.
  11. Disregard it saying Eastern Standard Time; it still looks like 3 hours earlier for me by using pst.
  12. Whatever happened to entries for PRODUCTION DATES, PRODUCTION COMPANY , and DISTRIBUTION COMPANY ?
  13. Thanks classicstarlets for this great thread. Now,until I expire or TCM expires, I will know how to get to that info quickly. By the way,if you are on the west coast just enter pst instead of est.
  14. Another one with James Mason is THE MAN BETWEEN.
  15. A MEDAL FOR BENNY , STATE SECRET [ aka THE GREAT MANHUNT] , THE WHITE PARADE and BEGGARS OF LIFE.
  16. Yes,you are probably right. I hope Comcast will add more "oldies" to their Xfinity choices. Still want to see ROMAN SCANDALS, WHOOPEE , and PALMY DAYS.
  17. I know that 85 peolple viewed this thread. Just curious if anybody was interestd enough to view this movie.
  18. About a month ago I posted a thread about 4 Eddie Cantor films from the Goldwyn library that have not played on TCM or elsewhere for years. Tonight to my delight I found one, KID MILLIONS [1934] with Ethel Merman and Ann Sothern among others. It even has a primitive Technicolor production number at the end. You might be able to get it if you have Comcast Xfinity. Go to on-demand.Hit SEARCH.Enter the name Eddie Cantor. The movie cost $2.99 and needless to say it was worth it. Well that's one down and three to go.
  19. Yes,it is good to see Joan Davis titles. However, don't be too surprised to see BEAUTIFUL BUT BROKE yanked before its scheduled appearance. Afterall it is a Columbia Picture and we all know how notorious TCM is in removing them from the schedule. Yes, I know the reasons already for this happening. A good example is THE PUBLIC MENACE. Removed.
  20. Yes, this is very nice to see, Ray. I too am very curious about the quality of the ACE DRUMMOND print they will use. Ray, how much longer a wait before we know what's coming at Chelsea Rialto ?
  21. Here's a film no one has mentioned that seems to have fallen through the cracks. It was nominated for a best picture "oscar" in 1934. You can't even find it for sale in Classic Images among advertisers. The film I am writing about is THE WHITE PARADE. Made at Fox Film. Does anyone out there know what became of this movie?
  22. I finally found the time to watch this movie. Wow ! I was so moved by this film. A wonderful surprise.Gaynor and Farrell were a perfect match.
  23. THE MONKEY'S PAW and CONVENTION CITY more than anything else.
