See, that's just it. Someone should be updating themselves if their going to put something together for Robert to read/tape. I have seen dozens of these errors lately and its disturbing that this isn't being reviewed before put on the air. I prefer to see Bob look his best wouldn't you?

Is it just me, or does it seem that Robert Osborne has been making quite a number of mistakes when he does his intro/ending for each movie? For instance this evening Robert gushed about Hedy Lamarr having dyed blonde hair and how she would look gorgeous in any color?that Stewart's character referred to her as "Red" when she was blonde. Then at the end of the movie as he talked about (blonde) Lana's character(Red) not dying but leaving it open as her moving on with Stewart(Gil) to raise?RABBITS?? What I heard from Lana it was fuzzy, yellow, DUCKS! If there hadn't been someone right next to me that heard him as well, I would have sworn I had been hearing things. This is not the first time I have noticed errors on Robert's part, but these were blatant and appeared to me that someone could have taken care of this. Does Robert do this all live, and if live what about a teleprompter? If recorded, whose the "a$$" who is allowing these mistakes to go through? All it does is make Robert look idiotic! So tell me anyone else noticing any of this and whose going to help the guy out so he's not made to look silly any longer? p.s. it's absurd and WRONG that this has been allowed to go on for so long. Bob has always been such a great supporter of the classic movie and it just seems very wrong that he is being made to look ridiculous! Edited by: brattysoul on Nov 17, 2009 12:52 AM

Would that be Dale Evans and her eventual hubby Roy Rogers?

Miles- I have been trying to post here for days, and of course my vista has decided it doesnt like tcm. in response to your post, it would seem to me that the canal would have been safer, but for Lillians recollections, safe wasnt exactly what anyone would think of. there is some neat info about the Farmington Canal on wiki with great links to the Mass branch of the trail, and a link to the city of Farmingtons survey of the old canal/railway in theirn city with the hope of creating greenways in the town. Good luck on the sleuthing and I hope you are able to take the time to take a trip alo0ng the canal trails to get to know another part of CT you may have been missing all this time I concede to you a new trivia question since I was not exactly correct about the ice floe scene. plus posting is not up my alley just now. *sigh* p.s. have been trying to edit what tcm made a mess of Edited by: brattysoul on Oct 15, 2009 11:55 AM

I was doing some snooping because it just didn't seem to me to fit that the floe scenes were on the Farmington River. I am only supposing of course, but it would seem that the mill dam/waterfall were more than likely upon the canal due to its past use for commerce. Also, the canal would have given them more control -so to speak- in filming such a scene vs use of a river. There is now a place known as the Farmington Canal Trail--and below is a quote from wiki: "It follows the abandoned right-of-way of the former New Haven and Northampton Railroad. This railroad was built along the route of the Farmington Canal in Connecticut and the Hampshire and Hampden Canal in Massachusetts." http://www.farmingtoncanal.org/ Most of the canal was covered over by the railroad except for Farmingham's section of it. Now of course most of the canal is dried up and/or covered over by roads and some trails. There is a link to an interesting report about the Farmington Greenway Trails on the wiki web article. Happy reading and maybe you can get a chance to hit the trail and take a look around Farmington and who knows, maybe one of the old lock's is near that mill dam! *smile*

I was thinking the Farmington,(CT) River, but could it have actually been the Farmington Canal?

Paul Newmann directed several(Harry & Son)and won for "The Color of Money" I recalled it Newmann early this am as well as Sidney Poiter(fair director). Anyone else come to mind? Was Paul really a "Method Actor" though? I hate that term, sounds so pretentious nowadays. (I knew Brando but couldn't recall which movie he directed--should have checked 'eh?) *grin*

I can only name one right now- Charles Laughton, "Night of the Hunter". I could only watch that movie one time--gives me the shivers. Always a shame that he only ever directed one movie, he could have given Hitch a run for the money.
