  1. Very good Terrence Thanks for the quick response. Lou Gehrig delivered his "luckiest man speech in the face of so much for him to battle as well. Your turn now.
  2. Most of our 4th of July celebrations are in remembrance of our forefathers but today, July 4th, 1939 has a special significance for the Boys of Summer...baseball!! A famous speech was delivered in a classic film of 1942. Name the movie, speaker and the actor that portrayed him. ??
  3. Indeed they did Miles! Erroll Flynn also played Jeb Stuart in "Santa Fe Trail". Thanks for stepping in on this 4th of July Weekend. Everyone stay Safe!
  4. Sorry Miles. You are looking for Jeff Daniels who played Col Joshua Chamberlain leading his regiment into Gettysburg's Little Round Top. (Edythe should stick with Johnny Tremaine for 4th of July Pageantry).
  5. Well Miles, we ran very similar posts. You have Gettysburg's 2nd day, I did Gettysburg's first day. Are you looking for Tom Berenger as Lt Gen James Longstreet at the Battle of Little Round Top? I did What Do They Have in Common on Jul 1st. Can you fill in the blanks for me? It shouldn't take long. You already have the answers.
  6. Thread is open if someone wants to post.
  7. HAMMOND, Mrs. Gale Sondergaard in The Letter '40
  8. You must be referring to Gale Sondergaard in "The Spider Woman Strikes Back"?
  9. I think I have to retire this and leave the thread open..sorry! I was going for Christopher Lee who played Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes and Sir Henry Baskerville as well as playing in "Dark Shadows" with Jonny Lee Miller who plays Holmes in "Elementary" . Where it got confusing was that Miller is Bernard Lee's grandson not Christopher Lee's. Thread's open.
  10. Thanks Terrence! We'll see if we continue this thread. Next: Erroll Flynn John Wayne Harry Morgan Martin Sheen ??
  11. DGF, you get another hint. The elder Brit recently died. His grandson is making his mark on TV playing the role I'm looking for.
  12. This is a good question that I worked on for awhile yesterday. Can I ask if his Oscar was for his direction or his roles?
  13. First guess on this is Bea Arthur playing Maude Findlay on "All in the Family" spinning off to "Maude" ?
  14. Never bored...on the boards Terrence! Any chance they were married to Charlton Heston? Ava is hard to pin to any married name. ??
  15. ZUCKERMAN, Homer: Bob Holt's voice "Charlotte's Web"
  16. Here's a hint: The elder Brit became mostly identified with a horror figure. The fictional character I'm looking for is not his horror role.
  17. Thanks, Swithin...you are so right! Your turn.
  18. The Matinee Idol Lost in Alaska with Arsenic and Old Lace...maybe??
  19. Here's one that shouldn't take long: This highly esteemed British actor holds a distinction as playing a well-known fictional character at least three times plus the fictional character's brother and good friend. His grandson has now made his mark successfully playing the same character. Who are the 2 and the literary character they share?
