Broadway musical opened in 1939. The film was made in 1944.

Thanks Miles, I'll leave the thread open.

A late '30s broadway musical had director, composer, lyricist and star names in the cast but closed after 2 months. It went on to film in the mid '40s under a different title. One song from the broadway production transferred to the film. The score from the broadway version was hailed as one of the best and in the '80s an original cast recording was discovered, remastered becoming the oldest original cast recording. It received a grammy nomination for Best Cast show Album. Can you give the title of the broadway musical, hit song that made the film version and who sang it?

Oof! and ouch! Ever so much better rendition of Tiptoe through the Tulips was sung by Nick Lukas in Gold Diggers of Broadway (1929). The ukulele never did much for Tim, nor his size too small suit he chose.

5) This film featured an uncredited part as "Peter's" mother for Thelma Ritter that launched her star.

This one should be easy for most of you:
a) Bwana Devil
Knights of the Round Tablec) White Christmas
d) The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm

It was Vincent Price who starred in Angel Street in 1941 with Leo G Carroll, & Judith Evelyn. The UK film from 1940 was titled Gaslight which later won the academy award for Ingrid Bergman. ??
That book you have is a true source for you. Wish I had one too.

It sounds like An Officer and A Gentleman. ??

"Anything Goes" as it says, literally. Lots of hatchet jobs. Your thread.

The year was 1934, last revival being 2011. Films were 2 in 1936, 1 in 1956 and 1 in 2004. (There were only 2 with the original title and 2 (1 in '36 and 1 in 2004) using a lot of the same songs.

This was maybe too obscure for TCM fans. Movie was 1999's Topsy-Turvy with James Broadbent playing Wm Gilbert and Allan Corduner as Arthur Sullivan covering their collapse after Princess Ida and the meat of the movie, the staging of The Mikado. Fabulous music, acting and costuming. Someone else take the thread.

Wow, this is from a month ago. Where are you fi? Here's one to get it back to page 1: after 77 years this original broadway production has had 3 revivals, 2 movies, with 2 more movies using much of the same music. But darned if I can find any that have not chopped, replaced or done away with the original line-up. Any guesses?

Hint: A '50s film. Add Thelma Ritter and Wendell Corey to the cast.
-
Hint: 1999 is the year with the (mostly) British cast of which the librettist and composer clash on their future together. The rest of the stellar cast went on to play Churchill, a henchman to a wicked queen, a Roman soldier in a popular mini-series and head of surgery in a current TV series.

Good sleuthing, flash...it has to be a person on the move doesn't it? (temporary job)...it's one of the 2 you mention.
-
In this popular mid '60s series, its star takes a temporary job aiding an invalid shop keeper(played by a future Best Actor Oscar), stumbles upon a scheme between the invalid's sister and her lover to kill him and take his money awarded him after the accident that paralyzed him. Can you name the popular series and the episode's guest star?

The name Red Norvo keeps surfacing, never having heard of him can't believe it to be correct. Is it him?
-

2) Young Bess
3) Guys and Dolls and
4) The Big Country with Jean Simmons as our actress. Great deducing, Lav. Your thread.

That's it, thank you Miles. I'm happy you knew about it. "All the Things You Are" was an old favorite of my Mom' & Dad's. They danced to that at their wedding. Your turn now.
