This actor had a role and later returned to a movie version in a different role winning the Oscar for Best Actor..the sponsor of this series had certain limitations in the sensitive dialogue. Who was this actor and title of the episode, and film?

My first film I made with the man that boosted my star was in 1941...the last was in 1967 when we both died during its production. The film that every little girl knows so well was made in 1950, a one word title. Can you identify that role, me, and my "maker"?
