A young relative travels to investigate and finds himself falling in love with her. What film and who stars?

In this hour long mystery/detective series, an actor and his costar of many films together from the '40s returned in 'this '84 episode, him as an inventor type eccentric and she as an old friend who returns to visit him. A mysterious remote car seems to be terrorizing and killing visitors to the area. Any guesses on the TV show, and couple who returned in this together? -
